LeBron James breaks incredible all-time NBA record after returning to Lakers after 'personal issues'

LeBron James has now played the most minutes of any player in NBA history, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and sealing another incredible all-time record.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar was away from the team due to an injury and ‘personal issues’, but returned on Sunday and is now back in the starting five.

On Thursday, he started against the Sacramento Kings, and while on the court, he passed Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 57,446 minutes on the court.

Incredibly, that amounts to over 957 hours of basketball, just under 40 days of James’ life.

The rest of the top five is rounded out by players who hung up their boots a long time ago, meaning it could be a long time before anyone comes close to LeBron – especially considering he’s still going strong.

Behind Abdul-Jabbar on the all-time list are Karl Malone (54,852), Dirk Nowitzki (51,368) and Kevin Garnett (50,418).

Last year, LeBron broke another Abdul-Jabbar record by becoming the highest point scorer in NBA history – as the man himself watched from the court.

Incredibly, James will turn 40 at the end of this month, but he’s still averaging 22.8 points per game and carrying the Lakers on his back.
