A Hinge employee has discovered the subtle signs that can show someone isn’t interested in you on the dating app, and they’re pretty surprising.
In a new interview with Business insider, Logan Ury, director of relationship science at Hinge, shared what you need to keep in mind to make sure someone special likes you, and that it’s not just a one-sided search for love.
For those unfamiliar, Hinge is a popular online dating app, which allows users to match each other with its “Nobel Prize-winning algorithm.”
However, while you may have a lot of matches on the app, there are a few things you should pay attention to, because they can reveal whether or not someone really likes you.
Ury broke down something called “digital body language,” which covers things like how often someone replies to your messages, double-texting, and the emojis they use.
He explained that it is important to be able to recognize digital body language, revealing that one of the signs that someone simply doesn’t like you is when they don’t constantly respond to your messages.
Business Insider reported that someone’s responses can reflect how serious they are about a potential match.
“It’s much better to just not play the game and respond quickly because those people are more likely to be dating and in relationships,” Ury told the outlet.

Another way to secretly tell if someone is interested or not is if their text messages are uneven.
If you message the other person more, or vice versa, they may not be very interested in dating.
Ury told Business Insider that for iPhone users, “there has to be that mix between blue and gray text bubbles.”
Blue indicates that you have sent the message, while gray indicates a message from the other person.
Additionally, it is important that they also ask you questions when they talk to you.
People who don’t ask questions typically aren’t interested in learning more about you, Ury said.
And her last helpful tip that can show if someone likes you is how they act outside of your text message chain.
Ury explained that if someone says they’re “bad at texting” but still doesn’t communicate with you in other ways, such as through voice notes or photos, they may not want to pursue you.

But at the end of the day, the expert emphasized that it’s important to meet your potential partner in person to decide whether things could really work out or not.
Even if your love interest is busy during the day, you should be transparent about it or try to talk in other ways, like sending a meme.
But at the end of the day, the expert emphasized that it’s important to meet your potential partner in person to decide whether things could really work out or not.
“You have to get to the date as soon as possible,” he told the outlet.
“You don’t know if someone’s in-person vibes will match their digital body language,” he added.
This isn’t the first dating advice Ury has offered in recent months, either.
Last year, she shared that you should look for a “slow” relationship with a potential partner and not those classic “fireworks.”
“People tell me all the time, ‘I went on this date, they were great, but I didn’t feel the spark.’ Fuck the spark,” she said in a video posted to Instagram at the time.
“It’s very frustrating because the spark of our society has become this word that means instant chemistry or instant fireworks.”
She explained that feeling a “spark” with someone is also dangerous because it could blind you to their flaws.
But he insisted that over time, as the excitement of their new relationship subsides, they will begin to come out and recommended a different approach.
‘Instead, go after the slow process. Someone who is reliable, trustworthy and can build a long-term relationship with you,” he suggested.
