Chris Martin got candid about being an empty nest during a candid profile with Rolling Stone

Chris Martin got candid about life as an empty nest and shared his thoughts on his daughter Apple’s upcoming debutante ball during a candid interview with Rolling stone.

The Coldplay singer shares Apple, 20, and his son Moses, with his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, but their children have now moved away to go to university.

Speaking about life after her older children moved away, she admitted: “It’s sad. That’s the only word.

But of course it would be stranger if they still said, “I can’t leave.” Then you would be more worried.

Both Apple and Moses are college students; the former attends Vanderbilt University and the latter is a freshman at Brown.

Earlier this month, Chris, Gwyneth and Moses attended Le Bal Des Débutantes at the Shangri-La in Paris, where Apple made its social debut.

At the time of the interview, the dance had not yet occurred.

The musician admitted that he never imagined participating in the dance but agreed to do it out of love for his daughter.

Chris called the evening, “so I never thought I’d do anything, but because I’m so in love with her, I was like, ‘Okay.’

The profile noted that the dance was a chance for the entire family to reconnect now that the kids had left the nest.

Martin also revealed the silly way he had recently started mocking Moses in public.

When the topic of his children came up, he said: ‘I like (my children) a lot. Although they are not biologically mine, now I am going to tell the story,” he joked.

“My favorite new thing to embarrass my son is, if we’re walking down the street and someone comes up to us and says, ‘I’m sorry to bother you while you’re with your son,’ I say, ‘That’s not my son.’ “That’s my partner,” he said, laughing.

‘Yeah. I like them a lot. “I think they’re mine, to be fair,” he said.

The interview was conducted a week before Apple made her social debut at Le Bal Des Débutantes, where she donned a sky blue strapless Valentino dress from the designer’s Spring 2025 collection that took a staggering 750 hours to complete.

Gwyneth, who is now married to TV producer Brad Falchuk, attended the event along with her ex-husband and son Moses, as well as her mother Blythe Danner.

Apple was among about 20 young women who were introduced at the prestigious Le Bal des Débutantes held at the Shangri-La Hotel, which costs $1,000 a night.

As is tradition, each of the young women attending the event at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris ‘presented’ at Le Bal was accompanied by a young man, known as a gentleman.

While the debutantes took center stage, each was paired with their young gentlemen to make their grand entrance at the ball.

Apple’s dashing Leo comes from the Austro-Hungarian noble family House of Henckel von Donnersmarck.

Leo is the son of film director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck and Christiane Asschenfeldt, the first international executive director of Creative Commons.
