Nick Jonas has angered fans after appearing to show support for Elon Musk

Nick Jonas has angered fans after appearing to show support for tech billionaire Elon Musk on social media, with many now threatening to boycott The Jonas Brothers altogether.

On Tuesday, the 32-year-old singer dated the SpaceX tycoon, 53, on his platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

It all started when Elon responded to an article from Tesla owners Silicon Valley, which claimed that Tesla’s profits have “increased 100 percent” since President-elect Donald Trump won the election last month.

In response to the post, Elon posted an old GIF of the Jonas Brothers spinning around a small wooden coffee table.

“My, how the tables have turned!” he wrote next to it.

Shortly afterwards, Nick tweeted Elon’s message with a reference to his brothers’ cover of Busted’s hit Year 3000.

Next to a photo of Elon, he said: “Take us to the year 3000.”

But Nick’s response didn’t go down well with fans at all, with many left disappointed with the interaction.

Some are even threatening to shun the musician and his brothers – Joe, 35, and Kevin, 37 – ahead of their 20th anniversary tour next year.

Regarding X, one sounded: ’20th anniversary tour, but I just can’t support this.’

“Yes, I’ll keep my money on the next tour, thanks,” wrote another.

A third vowed: ‘We’re not just going to move forward with this. To be noticeably quiet for the entire election cycle and then tweet something like that?

“I’ve been a fan since 2005 and was really looking forward to a 20th anniversary tour, but I just can’t support this.”

Another promised: “And just like that…. you’ll never get another hit!’

Others encouraged Nick to “delete” the post, while some noted that publicly responding was a “choice” in the first place.

On Monday it was announced that Elon has once again topped the list of the world’s rich, after his wealth increased by more than $200 billion this year.

The Bloomberg Billionaires Index reported that he has now amassed a net worth of $455 billion, a rise boosted by a nearly 71 percent surge in Tesla shares after the U.S. election.

Elon is the automaker’s largest shareholder with an approximately 13 percent stake in the company.

His net worth was also boosted by an insider stock sale of SpaceX, which he heads.

The rocket company and its investors agreed to buy as much as $1.25 billion in common stock, it was reported last week.

The tech mogul, who spent at least $277 million supporting Donald Trump and other Republican candidates on the 2024 campaign trail, has seen his fortune grow by more than $170 billion since Election Day.

Tesla investors have pinned their hopes on Elon’s relationship with the president-elect, hoping the billionaire’s role in shaping the new Republican administration’s policy agenda would benefit the automaker.

While Elon has managed to build a close bond with new President Trump, Nick could one day vie for the position himself.

In 2019, The Jonas Brothers hinted at Nick’s political ambitions by selling Vote For Nick t-shirts and hoodies.

Some clothing items said ‘Vote For Nick 2040’.

Nick’s first mention as president came in 2004, when he appeared on CBS’ The Early Show at the age of 12, where he was asked what he wanted to do when he grew up.

“Maybe I’ll be president or something,” the youngest Jonas said.

In a 2008 interview, he explained why he got the nickname Mr. President, although it is not clear who gave him the nickname.

“They call me the president or Mr. President, but that’s only when I get into my president mode. Sometimes I just act like the boss,” he said.

On a 2008 episode of Live with Regis and Kathy Lee, Nick continued to talk about his presidency.

“I had a conversation with a lot of people: ‘Yes, I’m going to run for president,’” he said in a sarcastic tone, before turning serious: “But maybe one day I will, I don’t know. I think I could run in 2038.”

Nick will turn 35 in 2027, the minimum age required to run for the American presidency. This means that the earliest possible date for him to stand as a candidate is 2028.
