Social media users were left “terrified” after a photo of a homeowner’s animal-shaped hedge was shared online, with many branding it the “thing of nightmares”.
The photo was captured by a passerby and posted to Reddit on December 16, catching the attention of members of the popular r/CasualUK sub.
He imageshared by u/Abwettar, shows a terraced house on a British residential street with a huge hedge at the end of its front garden.
The bush appears to have been trimmed to resemble a giant rabbit, but it’s the strange addition of creepy features that has Redditors dropping their phones in fear.
Firmly placed on the rabbit’s “head” are a pair of cardboard cutout ears painted in black and pink.
But, adding a disturbing twist, there are a pair of piercing, reflective bulging eyes attached to his “face,” as well as a cardboard cutout of a wide human smile, along with a full set of jagged teeth.
The publication is titled “It’s a rabbit.” And a bush too,’ has since racked up more than 300 likes and dozens of comments from terrified Redditors.
One person wrote: “Slightly scary,” while another labeled the creation “Nightmare fuel.”
This hedge appears to have been trimmed to resemble a giant rabbit, but it’s the strange addition of creepy features that has Redditors dropping their phones in fear.
One person joked: ‘Creative, but scary and situational. They cover Halloween, Christmas and Easter. Prestige.’
A fellow Redditor asked: ‘That’s a Cheshire cat, right?’ while a third joked: “A happy rabbit in a bush.” It seems perfectly normal to me, ha ha.
Another said: “That’s the stuff of nightmares, not a rabbit,” while a second commented: “It’s f***ing weird, that’s what it is.” Why put teeth?
A third joked: “If that’s what he said… go ahead and run.”
Finally, one commenter mused: “It’s also something a courier delivering packages on a windy night will have a heart attack upon encountering.”
Meanwhile, a retired art teacher revealed he has been cutting a hedge in the shape of a naked woman outside his home for almost 20 years.
The publication is titled “It’s a rabbit.” And a bush too,’ has since racked up more than 300 likes and dozens of comments from terrified Redditors.
Pensioner Keith Tyssen, 90, decided in 2005 that he would indulge his love of sculpture by transforming the hedge in front of his house into a naked woman.
Calling her Gloria, the divorced father-of-four said people stop and take photographs of the 5ft tall reclining figure as they pass his home in Sheffield.
He revealed that drunk people climb the sculpture to grope, and some even pretend to have sexual relations with the topiary.
He said: “I’m 90 now, but I’m still pretty good physically, so I’ll keep going.”
‘She’s not going anywhere. She’ll just sit there on my wall.
‘The shape is not easy to do, so when I receive praise, it is very nice to hear it.
“People smile when they see that Gloria and I like that.”
Tyssen explained that he hadn’t planned on a naked lady when he started manipulating his hedge to turn her into a slightly larger than life lady.
He came into his own through his time as an art student when he completed life drawing lessons, before becoming a teacher.
