The weather forecast for Christmas Day is the most anticipated of the year.
And on Wednesday, ideal conditions are emerging for outdoor Christmas lunches and dinners, going to the beach, barbecues, backyard cricket matches and children trying out Santa’s gifts.
Fortunately, Australians will have a respite from the scorching heatwaves that have hit the east and west coasts this month.
Temperatures are expected to be in the 20s and early 30s, with Adelaide set to have Australia’s highest temperature of 35C.
Eastern capitals are expecting a near-perfect Christmas Day, with mostly sunny weather forecast for Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
“Generally stable conditions are expected across the country on Christmas Day,” Weatherzone meteorologist Yoska Hernandez told Daily Mail Australia.
‘There is a potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms in parts of the northern tropics and significant heat, mainly in the northwest and east of Western Australia.
‘A low pressure system will move eastwards towards the Tasman Sea, while a high pressure system will dominate central and most of eastern Australia, creating mostly dry and settled conditions.

‘A cold front will cross Western Australia and this will be followed by a strong shift southwards, bringing colder conditions to the west of the state.
“Showers and thunderstorms are expected in the northern tropics, with some showers possible in parts of central eastern Queensland, south-west WA, coastal New South Wales, east coast Victoria and southern Australia. Tasmania”.
