A 37-year-old Briton who lived and worked in Australia was found dead in Thailand after a party famous for his wild behavior.
Christopher Stephen Boucher, who lived on Sydney’s northern beaches, attended a full moon party on the island of Koh Phangan before being found on the steps of a 7-Eleven store at around 6.30am on Monday.
Boucher is believed to have been returning home from partying on Sunday when he visited an ATM to withdraw money and pay a local who had taken him back to his hotel.
“Officers are currently questioning witnesses who claimed to have seen him drunk on Hat Rin beach where the party was held,” said Koh Phangan police lieutenant colonel Arun Kamlangkeo.
‘After the party, he tried to find a car to return to his accommodation, but he had no cash.
“He couldn’t pay the fare, but he met a local and asked to be taken to his hotel. He promised to pay after withdrawing the money.
Colonel Kamlangkeo said “the local agreed and dropped him off at the hotel.”
“He was said to have been visibly exhausted before he died,” she said.

Mr Boucher was a British citizen residing in Australia and owned a cleaning business on Sydney’s northern beaches.
‘He may have been partying all night into the morning and passed out from lack of sleep. We are questioning the person who brought him home.
“We are also reviewing security camera footage.”
Boucher, originally from Kent in southern England, ran a cleaning company on Sydney’s northern beaches, where he lived above a bottle shop, which also served as his workplace since 2017.
A housemate who spoke told news.com.au Mr Boucher was a “beautiful man” but said she did not know the cause of his death.
Mr Boucher’s body has been taken to Koh Phangan hospital for further examination.
“There were no signs of assault, so we believe he might have been drunk or overdosed,” Lt. Col. Arun said.
“The results of his blood tests are still pending, but we have already informed the British embassy of his death.”
The Full Moon Party is an all-night beach party on the island of Koh Phangan that attracts thousands of backpackers.
The situation is fueled by abundant drinks and cheap drugs, both legal, such as cannabis, and illegal.
