A toddler died after being pulled from a backyard pool just days before Christmas.

Emergency services were rushed to a Moorebank home in Sydney’s southwest shortly after 6.30pm on Tuesday after reports a three-year-old boy was found unconscious in the water.

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the boy at the scene for some time before he was rushed to Sydney Children’s Hospital, where he later died.

Images from the scene showed ambulances and police vehicles on both sides of the street.

The boy was surrounded by paramedics as he was stretchered out of the house and taken to an ambulance.

Several distraught relatives were seen speaking to officers and paramedics as the boy was rushed to hospital.

A child’s life jacket was seen abandoned near the backyard pool.

Surprised neighbor Valeria said that the boy was in critical condition when he left the house.
