Claudia Karvan has hinted at what fans can expect from the highly anticipated season finale of Bump.

The fan-favorite Stan series is coming to an end with its fifth and final series at the end of the year, and fans are eagerly waiting to see what’s in store for them.

The dramatic comedy centers on Oly (Nathalie Morris) and her boyfriend Santi (Carlos Sanson Jr), who had a surprise baby in the first season while they were still in school.

The final season will see Oly’s mother Angie (Claudia) continue to battle cancer as Oly comes to terms with her second pregnancy.

Now, co-creator Claudia, 52, has hinted at what will happen at the end of the show and announced that they had already decided the ending in the first season.

“The ending we have, the image and the moment, was actually on our wish list when we were developing the first series,” he told Daily Mail Australia exclusively.

“We thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if one day we could finish the series right now?’ and that’s what we’ve done.”

“The best thing about season five was that we went into it knowing exactly how we were going to end,” he continued.

“So it was just about how we were going to take the audience’s hand and guide them to this point.”

Hinting at the drama to come, Claudia said they tackle serious topics, including mortality and pregnancy, as it turns out to be as emotional a series as ever.

“We tackle some pretty big stories with the same tone as Bump, so it’s still warm and thought-provoking and funny, but hard-hitting,” he continued.

‘We address mortality, the politics of pregnancy and childbirth, feminism, environmentalism, abortion… yes.

“We sugarcoat things, but we’re definitely going there, which is fun, we don’t want to be too sure.”

Addressing where the inspiration for the stories comes from, Claudia revealed that she and co-creator Kelsey Munro inject many of their own experiences into the scripts, as do the rest of the cast.

“There’s a lot of autobiographical stuff from Kelsey and all the writers there; even the actors come up with their own stories and they’re often great,” he shared.

‘In the story room everyone brings their diaries or people who tell their friends stories and secrets to include in the program!’

Nathalie Morris, who plays Oly, even co-wrote one of the episodes, and Claudia said she was delighted to help the budding star’s writing dreams come true.

On the heartfelt real-life feel that encapsulates Bump, Claudia said how important it was for them to accurately represent Australian society and the diversity that comes with it.

“If you do television in Australia, which is very generously subsidized by taxpayers, you have to reflect on what our society is like,” he shared.

“When we met Ioane (Saula), who is Samoan, we took his lead in representing his community and he is very aware of that.

“After the first season, he said to me, ‘You don’t know what you’ve done for me, this is really huge.’

“At one point he said, ‘So in the future (on the show) I’m going to be a worker or a bouncer at a nightclub,’ and we were like, ‘No, you’re going to be a midwife.'”

‘He was like ‘what?’ When has that happened on television?

Claudia also attributed Bump’s global success to its “authentic” feel and shared her pride that the show debuted to great success in the UK.

“It’s very rare for an Australian show to go overseas, like Colin From Accounts, Fisk, Home and Away and Neighbors have done, but it’s rare,” he gushed.

“So when I get the usual DMs from audiences in England, I have to pinch myself and I think it all comes down to how specific and authentic the show is.”

The fifth and final series of Bump will be screened on Boxing Day as are described as a “Christmas tradition for every Australian household”.

The latest installment of Bump promises to be a dramatic and bittersweet swan song for the Chalmers-Davis family.

The comedy-drama was one of Stan’s most popular and critically acclaimed shows upon its debut in 2021 and spawned a spin-off series titled Year Of in 2023.

The new season of the original Stan Bump series will premiere on Boxing Day, all episodes at once. All episodes of seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4 are now streaming, only on Stan.
