Over the years, the actor, 39, admitted he tried various treatments, including a hair transplant, but ended up suffering some rare side effects that discouraged him.

In an effort to slow his hair loss, he “started taking medications, using topical creams, and (wearing) laser hats.”

“I remember everything just kept getting worse and worse,” he recalled. “I really didn’t know what to do, almost to the point where I gave up.”

In the end, Muñiz said he “was tired of trying things that didn’t help the situation” and that made him “increasingly conscious” of his hair.

At the time, he remembered being hyper fixated on his hair every time he passed a mirror and was always “picturing” and “comparing” them to past photographs.

Muniz recalled his first struggle with hair loss while filming the final season of his hit series, Malcolm In the Middle, which aired from 2000 to 2006.

It also coincided with his turn to racing cars professionally.

“I don’t want to say I was surprised how I went from having hair to having no hair,” she began. “I didn’t really notice it until I noticed it.”

After wrapping Malcolm In the Middle, Muniz said that, without the help of hair and makeup, she finally noticed her hair loss.

“I started having to comb my hair for the first time,” she said, referring to the period after Malcolm In the Middle ended. “It was definitely a shock, you know, especially because I was young, 19 or 20 years old.”

Despite being in the spotlight and having a team of people working for him, the actor said he was alone in overcoming his hair loss.

“I didn’t have anyone to help me,” she said, before detailing her trials and errors before finding hair restoration company HairClub.

He continued: “I think it’s kind of interesting because, it’s not something you can help with, right? If you’re losing your hair, if you’re having problems like that, it’s not like you’ve done something wrong or, you know, what do I mean?” I mean? It’s genetics.’

Muniz noted that it was his wife, Paige Price, who forced him to do a hair consultation with HairClub when he had resorted to simply wearing hats and shaving his head.
