After languishing on the market for more than a decade, Michael Jordan’s 32,000-square-foot mansion in Highland Park, Illinois, has finally sold for a dramatically reduced price.
As first reported Bloombergthe property closed for $9.5 million after first listing at $29 million. That marks a 67 percent decline for property in Chicago’s northern suburbs that border Lake Michigan.
Reports of a deal first surfaced in September.
The mansion’s amenities include nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, a cigar room, a library, an indoor gym, a circular infinity pool, a basketball court, a tennis court and an iconic entry gate with the number 23.
Jordan has lived mostly retired in his native North Carolina, although he was spotted spending the summer with his wife, Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto, aboard a yacht in the Mediterranean.
Jordan ended his 13-year reign as owner of the Hornets by selling his majority stake in the franchise to a group led by Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin in August 2023.
The buyer has not yet been identified, but he got a huge 56,000 square foot home.

The sale to Schnall and Plotkin was said to be worth a staggering $3 billion, a colossal profit for the 61-year-old given he shelled out $275 million to buy the team in 2010.
Jordan remains the minority owner of the Hornets.
And after cashing in on his controlling stake in Charlotte, Jordan has made the Forbes 400 list of America’s richest Americans.
His net worth is now understood to have surpassed the $3 billion mark, meaning he has become the first athlete to be included in Forbes’ exclusive club.
Jordan remains the richest athlete in history after combining his iconic NBA career with some of the biggest off-court business deals in history.
The most famous of those brand partnerships is, of course, with Nike, with whom he partnered on the Jordan brand.
The former Chicago Bulls superstar’s most recent annual royalty check with Nike was worth around $260 million.
Two months ago, Jordan spent $70 million on a luxurious private jet that pays homage to his connection with Nike.
Not long after spending $2 million on a one-of-a-kind Italian sports car, Jordan spent even more money on a stunning new plane with a $500,000 custom paint job.
The six-time NBA champion’s plane is a Gulfstream 650ER, which holds the record for “the longest and fastest flight in the history of business aviation,” according to your website.
He opted for a silver and black theme after spending six figures on his own custom paint job, which resembles a pair of his elephant-print ‘Air Jordan’ sneakers.

The plane has a top speed of 0.925 Mach and also comes with two Rolls-Royce BR725 engines.
Inside, Jordan’s luxurious new plane seats 19 passengers and four crew members.
Each passenger enjoys the kind of luxury that MJ, who has a net worth of $3.5 billion, regularly enjoys, with giant beige leather reclining seats situated in each window.
The plane has an independent space for meals, as well as a fully equipped bar decorated with LEDs that unfold from the furniture.
Jordan is also able to lower his head when he feels tired during a long trip in a stylish private room.
