Prominent fashion designer Wayne Cooper has been charged with allegedly assaulting his second wife.
Cooper, 61, was allegedly involved in an argument with Elizabeth Adams, 47, at an apartment complex on Campbell Parade in Bondi, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Adams filed the complaint with police on Sunday, prompting an investigation into the alleged incident.
The British-born designer was charged with one count of assault and given an interim Arrested Violence Order (AVO) that same night.
He is due to appear at Waverley Local Court on Thursday.
The alleged incident is the latest hurdle for the couple after Adams was slapped with a two-year AVO in September following an incident with her new husband.
The order prevents him from assaulting or threatening Cooper, intentionally or recklessly destroying or damaging any of Cooper’s property or animals.
The couple had just celebrated their first wedding anniversary on December 1 of last year, getting married nine months after meeting and falling madly in love.
The 61-year-old married Elizabeth Adams (both pictured) in December last year after meeting for the first time just nine months earlier.
Both Adams and Cooper insisted their relationship was going well and dismissed the impact of the AVO made in September.
“Everything is fine,” Cooper told Daily Mail Australia at the time.
‘It’s a storm in a teacup. We’re together and we’re happy and that’s all.’
Cooper popped the question to Adams when he hid an engagement ring in a plate of caviar during a romantic dinner at Bondi Icebergs.
The couple had been dating for just eight months following the breakdown of Cooper’s 25-year relationship, 14 of which he was married, with former model Sarah Marsh.
