Tom Selleck talked about his experiences on the set of Friends.
On Friday, the 79-year-old actor – who appeared in ten episodes of the hit sitcom between 1996 and 2000 – claimed he had a “beautiful experience” and still has positive memories of the show.
He took on the role of Dr. Richard Burke, Monica Geller’s love interest, who was played by Courteney Cox.
The Emmy Award winner said this Parade magazine“People talk to me all the time about my role in ‘Friends.’ It was a beautiful experience, something I didn’t see coming.’
He revealed that parts of the show’s script were improvised and claimed that showrunners loved his performance so much that they invited him to several other appearances.
“(The showrunners) just explained this idea and you had to take a leap of faith. They didn’t have a script or anything,” he said.

Selleck continued, “I remember I had to do three shows, and on the third show at the table someone said, ‘Oh, that’s right, this is your last show. I wish you could come back.’ I said, “Well, nobody asked me.” So that turned out to be ten shows.’
The actor also expressed interest in pursuing roles in future comedies.
When asked if he would be willing to appear in another comedy, he replied, “I would like to do another comedy.” The right kind of comedy.
‘Friends sometimes made people laugh and cry. That’s the kind of comedy I like to do. So did three men and a baby.”
The Detroit, Michigan native recently starred as Frank Reagan in the CBS police drama Blue Bloods – which was canceled in October after fourteen years on the air.
Selleck added that he would be open to appearing in a spin-off series someday, admitting that he loves his on-screen character.
However, he has not yet received an offer from the TV network.
The acting veteran – who also previously starred in 2007 crime drama Jesse Stone: Sea Change – said: “I’m open to suggestions because I love Frank Reagan, but no one has really asked.
“I don’t see him retiring and going anywhere. If he goes to a small town, I’d rather make more Jesse Stone movies.”
Just a few weeks ago, he said he felt “frustrated” after the unexpected shows and sudden cancellation.

Despite having an impressive fourteen seasons, the actor claims there is still more to the story and that the ending missed key elements of the show’s plot.
In an interview with TV Insider in October, he said: “I’m quite frustrated. During those last eight shows, I didn’t want to talk about an ending for Blue Bloods, but about the fact that it’s still a huge success.”
‘In a Top 100 Shows of 2023-2024 (in total viewers we were number 9 out of 100), if you take out the three football shows we are at number 6!’ he said.
Selleck added, “My frustration is that the show has always been taken for granted because it was performing from the beginning.”
