Alec Baldwin’s wife Hilaria Baldwin has come under fire online after revealing that her 11-year-old daughter is releasing her own skincare book.
Hilaria, 40, took to Instagram on Friday to share the news that the young woman had written a new tome full of recipes for “natural” beauty products.
She explained that her daughter is “obsessed” with “skincare” and recently began “making her own” items at home using “beneficial ingredients.”
So she decided to turn what she learned into a book, called Glowing Up: Recipes to Rock Your Natural Beauty Empowerment, Self-Care, and Natural Radiance in One Inspiring Guide, which hits stands on March 23.
But the announcement was met with fierce criticism from her followers, who claimed that Carmen was “too young” to dedicate herself to skin care.
“OMG he’s too young,” one person commented.
“Kids don’t need skin care,” someone else agreed.
‘She is a beautiful young woman. I’m glad you’re experimenting, it’s all good. But exactly what knowledge does she have to write a book at her age? Question another user.

‘My son is Carmen’s age and still watches Ninjago while playing with Legos in his underwear. Why do they treat Carmen as if she were 17 years old? reads a fourth comment.
Others were unhappy that the 11-year-old girl was wearing makeup on the book cover.
“When kids are influenced by social media, it’s up to the parents to find a way to talk about things, like why is she so insecure and needs so much makeup?” said a different person. “She’s only 11 but she looks 18.”
‘How old is she 12? And she puts on makeup like a grown woman? someone else joked.
“You look as old as you’re trying to be,” another user criticized.
The book’s cover showed Hilaria and Carmen posing back to back in bathrobes while standing in a kitchen and holding mixing bowls.
In the caption, Hilaria wrote that the book is a “guide to embracing self-care, building confidence, and celebrating natural beauty.”
‘If your child is like ours, skin care is an obsession. Following that line of letting them explore and have fun, but also being aware of what they put on their skin, is difficult,” he said.
But the announcement was met with fierce criticism from her followers, who claimed that Carmen was “too young” to dedicate herself to skin care.
“We achieve a balance in our home and part of that has been led by Carmen watching her make her own skincare products, from our kitchen, researching, learning about beneficial ingredients, creating and having fun.”
She concluded the note by gushing about how “proud” she was of the 11-year-old boy.
“We are so proud of you, Carmen, and so excited to share this project with all of you,” Hilaria wrote.
While discussing the next book with Peopleadded Hilaria, ‘OhOne of my goals as a mother is to really foster my children’s creativity and individuality and see where their passions and abilities collide.
‘She’s been making her own skincare products in our kitchen for years, learning which ingredients are beneficial, measuring, experimenting…creating. It’s her job and I’m simply helping her see the potential and the possibilities.’
Carmen told the publication that she tested the products with her parents and that the process certainly included some trial and error.
“I’ve made some mistakes along the way… like making my dad turn yellow from turmeric… Oops,” he joked.
‘But I had a lot of fun making these recipes and using them. I constantly earn more.”

In June, Hilaria and her husband, Alec, 66, again faced scrutiny over Carmen’s decision to wear makeup.
At the time, Alec shared a sweet photo of his children to celebrate Father’s Day, and many of his followers were quick to notice that Carmen was wearing mascara and bright lipstick.
‘Why does a 10-year-old girl wear makeup?’ one person asked, while another asked, “Why is she wearing makeup?”, followed by an eye-rolling emoji.
“She looks older than 10,” said another follower.
Alec and Hilaria married in 2012 and share six other children together: Rafael, eight, Leonardo, seven, Romeo, six, Eduardo, three, Lucía, also three, and Ilaria, one.
