A teenager in a green and yellow camouflage hoodie, who police later identified as 16-year-old Cecil Batiz, was caught on security footage at Sam's Meat Market in New Orleans pointing a gun at a store clerk while demanding cash.

An unidentified man working at a New Orleans supermarket shot and killed an armed teenage robber.

Employees of Sam’s Meat Market told WWL that two young men entered the store around 7:50 PM on Tuesday and demanded cash.

Surveillance footage then showed a teenager in a green and yellow camouflage hoodie waving a gun at the store clerk, who quickly handed over some money.

The suspect could then be seen pocketing the cash before beginning to swipe through the till, prompting the store clerk to step back with his hands up.

Once the teen is apparently convinced he has stolen enough money, he can be seen walking toward another suspect in a dark hoodie who is checking out the merchandise.

At that point, the employee stood up and began shooting at the teen in camouflage, immediately causing him to fall to the ground as his friend fled the store.

Police have since identified the boy in camouflage as 16-year-old Cecil Batiz, who officers say was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. according to WSU.

The other suspect was also identified as Teony Juarez, 18, who was injured in the shooting but later arrested and charged in the armed robbery.

Meanwhile, the store clerk has not been charged with any wrongdoing, according to District Attorney Jason Williams noticed at a local radio station that ‘the rules change’ when someone thinks their life is in danger.

“For anyone who has seen the video, it is painfully obvious what those two people were doing in that store. And that store owner did not ask for that exchange,” he said. ‘That’s very clear.

“If someone puts a gun in your face, they mean malice and they have greed in their hearts. And all the rules have changed and you have the right to defend yourself,” the prosecutor added.
