Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi posed for a photo in their new English countryside after disaster struck their multimillion-pound home.

The couple’s new life in the picturesque British countryside was turned upside down last week when their dream home was inundated by astonishing floods just days after they moved there.

The chat show superstar is living in an idyllic multi-million pound farmhouse in the Cotswolds after deciding to emigrate from the US in protest at Donald Trump’s election victory.

But instead of enjoying a pastoral retreat, Ellen, 66, and her wife Portia De Rossi, 51, were left at the mercy of the raging floods that surrounded their new country home, MailOnline exclusively revealed.

Dramatic footage showed the couple’s 43-acre estate in the Cotswolds flooded after the devastating impact of Storm Bert.

Just days after moving into their new home, the couple were left virtually stranded after a tributary of the River Thames, which runs next to the property, burst its banks.

This happened after the area was hit by days of heavy rain and wind speeds of up to 130 km/h.

The roads around the shelter have become impassable after being flooded under five feet of water, trapping locals in their homes.

Despite the flooding, the couple posed for a photo on social media, celebrating their 20 years together.

Ellen also said the couple is “looking forward” to their “first Snowy Christmas.”

The star wrote on Instagram: ’20 years ago today we started this relationship without realizing what a long beautiful adventure this would be.

“You are the best thing that ever happened in my life. You take care of me. You help me see the good in everything. You help guide me and pick me up when I’m feeling down or down. You are a beautiful soul that I am so grateful to have as a partner to navigate this crazy life with.

‘My wife. My best friend. The love of my life. Thank you for being you and loving me. I’m so excited that we’ll spend the next twenty years exploring and traveling the world together, and we’re looking forward to our first snowy Christmas.”

The post came days after Ellen and Portia’s properties were inundated by floodwaters.

An affected resident who lives near the couple said of last week’s storm: ‘The water is rising by the hour. This is the worst I’ve seen in years.’

The dramatic scenes must seem far removed from the life the couple left behind in sunny California.

According to US media, Ellen and his wife Portia – who donated money to Kamala Harris’ doomed campaign – decided to ‘leave’ after Trump’s election victory, apparently vowing never to return.

They are said to have ‘fell in love’ with the picturesque estate in the rolling Cotswold countryside, which also includes a helipad and swimming pool.

And it seems they were so keen to get their hands on their dream home quickly that they were prepared to pay £2.5million more than the asking price.

Originally built as a farmhouse, it was converted into a modern luxury home over 15 years ago, but still retains its old-world charm, with the surrounding barns connected to the main house via glass corridors.

In total there are six bedrooms and four bathrooms. Municipal records show that the previous owner installed an environmentally friendly heat pump to heat the house and pool.

There is also a five bay garage and a separate one bedroom cottage.

If Ellen and Portia want to exercise, the house also has a gym, playrooms and separate offices.

A source in the Cotswolds said: ‘It really is a beautiful house.

‘It’s so quintessentially English that they, as Americans, have fallen in love with, even though they can forget the glamorous nightlife and weather of Southern California.

‘The area itself is very quiet, some might even say boring as there isn’t much to do, especially in the colder months, but there are a lot of celebrities in the area.’

Before the floods came, we saw Ellen and Portia settling into their new surroundings by enjoying a night out at a different kind of watering hole.

During a raucous evening at Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds pub The Farmer’s Dog, the pair were entertained by The Corrs.

Pop stars James Blunt, 50, and Natalie Imbruglia, 49, were also in attendance as they enjoyed a few drinks with friends.

It is thought that Ellen and Portia have invested in a few 4×4 vehicles which could prove a lifeline when driving on boggy roads.

Among the only vehicles on the roads in recent days were tractors and trailers driven by local farmers, who collected sheep from low-lying areas and took them to higher ground.

According to People magazine, Ellen is a known collector of “multi-million dollar homes”, including a $32 million property in Montecito, where Harry and Meghan live, which she sold earlier this year.

In 2023, she told a US outlet that she had bought and sold “more than 50 houses”, including a house in Malibu that once belonged to Brad Pitt.
