Alison Hammond emotionally apologized to her son for “not always being there” as she received the Role Model Award at the MBCC in Birmingham.
The presenter, 49, was among the stars attending the Multicultural Business & Community Champion Awards, held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Saturday.
Alison scooped the Inspirational Honorary Role Model Award at the event, where she was accompanied by her son Aidan.
The This Morning and Great British Bake Off presenter gave a moving speech as she accepted her award, declaring that all her hard work had been for Aidan.
“I love you so much son and I’m sorry I wasn’t always there, but I’ll be honest with you, the reason I did it was just for you,” she said.
Wiping away a tear, Alison added: “I’m getting emotional because I don’t normally get recognized for things like this.”

Alison was introduced to the stage by soul legend and fellow West Midlander Beverly Knight.
It comes as Alison, who shares her son with ex Noureddine Boufaied, is set to star with Aidan in a new BBC travelogue series where the couple discover Florida, which will air next month.
The Birmingham crowd applauded Alison and added: “I’ve worked really hard.” When they said I couldn’t do things, I did them.
“Don’t let anyone stop you, if you have a dream, do it.”
And he added: “And you can be yourself without shame, just as I have been, your authentic self, you don’t have to change for anyone.”
Alison put on a glamorous display for the evening as she wore a sleek, figure-hugging black dress – the same choice as awards presenter Judi Love.
The couple laughed together on the red carpet as they showed off their identical outfits.

After Alison’s acceptance speech, Judi paid tribute to her for always supporting her, saying: “When I was starting out and people told me I couldn’t do it, it was Alison who told me not to give up and to keep going.” ‘
At the event, Beverly Knight praised Brummie Alison as “one of us.” “Coming from the West Midlands, it’s great to see Alison on TV every morning,” he said.
The ceremony also celebrated legends Annie Lennox, Levi Roots and Chelsea’s first black player, Paul Canoville, who overcame intolerance, illness and addiction.

But she added: “But when it comes to professional advice, I’m not sure!”
