A huge sinkhole in a housing estate in south Wales has led to the evacuation of 30 homes.
People are urged to stay away after the 50ft hole appeared in Nant Morlais, Pant, Merthyr, today, December 1.
Council officers and police are on site working with other agencies.
A statement from Merthyr Council said: “No further help or support is needed at this time but thank you to everyone who has offered it.” “Safety is our top priority.”
They also issued a warning saying: “To allow engineers to continue working safely, please stay away from the area.”
Heavy rain fell overnight in parts of Wales, just days after Storm Bert caused devastation in parts of the country.
Local councilor David Hughes told the BBC that a culvert was believed to have collapsed.
Hughes said the residents of Nant Morlais (about 30 houses) have been evacuated. The cul-de-sac has been closed and people are advised to avoid the area.

The public has been urged to stay away from the 60-foot hole in the ground.
Other parts of the road have smaller cracks and holes opening up in the ground.
Footage shows a huge gaping hole in a garden in Nant Morlais, Merthyr, as well as a smaller hole and cracks in the road.
The area around the sinkhole has been cordoned off and the road closed.
It is unclear how long the street will be evacuated.
A police statement said: “South Wales Police are dealing with an incident in Nant Morlais, Pant, Merthyr. The road is currently closed in both directions. Please avoid the area.
