He traveled to Austria to get in shape and, after undergoing several tests, was told he should avoid eating apples.
He claims he is now afraid to eat the fruit, as he was told it would leave him “lethargic” and “confused.”
But despite having managed to lose weight, he is struggling to keep the weight off now that he is back in the UK because his wife Kitty prefers “teddy bear Michael”.
He said Sun: ‘I went to a place called the Mayr Clinic and lost quite a bit of weight, which I kept off for a while.
‘It was a week of pain and they did all these tests, they put little probes on the tip of my tongue and told me I shouldn’t eat apples.
‘Apparently apples will leave me very lethargic and fuzzy in my brain. Actually, that’s the only thing I got out of it.
He added that he has now regained the weight he had lost and has also developed a fear of apples.

Michael went on to say that his wife doesn’t like him losing weight, so he doesn’t always feel motivated to do so.
He joked that it would be a lot easier to change weight if “she was pretty rude to me about my weight.”
The comedian said: “She wants teddy bear Michael, not racing snake Michael, the man she first met.”
“She said to me: ‘Who is this? “Who is this incredibly attractive, chiseled man in front of her?” She didn’t like it. That was quite demotivating.
