An Australian woman called a real estate agent after her partner received an unusual email about their relationship.

Although both she and her partner were on the lease, the agent sent the email addressed solely to him.

It said: ‘I have sent this email only to you because I heard that you and (your partner) were no longer together. I didn’t want to send you a lease renewal if your situation has changed.

The woman felt that the agent’s speculations about her love life were crossing the line.

“We are both quite baffled why they would be commenting on our relationship, something quite inappropriate and unprofessional,” she wrote.

The couple’s relationship is still intact, leaving them wondering where the agent heard the incorrect rumor.

Now that they’ve moved on and regained their bond, the woman felt free to share the email publicly on Reddit.

“Unfortunately, they were pretty terrible to deal with, and this nosy comment was yet another red flag,” he said.

Reddit users said the email was a violation of personal privacy.

“Maybe one of your neighbors is a spy for the landlord or real estate agent,” said one.

‘Are they stalking your social media or something? “How would they know anything about your relationship?” asked a second.

“Not only is it super weird and unprofessional to comment on your personal relationship, but it’s also dubious to go behind one of your tenants’ backs and ask the other what they want to do with the lease that has both their names on it.” said a third.

“He should be informed of what is happening and allowed to have his say.”

Others sided with the agent, stating that they had been tactful under the circumstances, even if the information was incorrect.

“They’ve heard, rightly or wrongly, that you two have broken up and are being proactive in reaching out to you, in case your finances have been affected enough that you can’t stay,” one said.

‘They are being proactive and helping you while helping themselves. “Let things be clear and move on,” echoed another.
