A horrified woman has recalled the sickening moment she found live worms wriggling in her food at a popular restaurant chain.
The Blue Mountains woman visited Lone Star Rib House Penrith in western Sydney to enjoy a “nice meal” with her husband and son on November 10.
But after the woman’s steak, which can cost up to $65 at Lone Star, arrived, she knew “within seconds” that something didn’t look right.
“I walked over and looked at the piece of meat and thought, ‘That’s really weird, there are things moving,'” he said. alphabet reported.
Her husband initially suspected it was a steak seasoning, until he took a closer look.
The customer, who does not want to be identified, alerted a staff member, who told her about the restaurant’s high star ratings for food and health safety.
Despite being offered a substitute meal, the woman rejected it because she was “disgusted.”
“I just said, ‘No, I can’t eat here… I just want to leave,'” he said.

The waiter took the food to the kitchen and the diner was later told that the staff didn’t “know how the maggots appeared in the steak.”
The family was also informed that the maggots did not come from the steak but from the salad, which they refuted.
“(The worms) were having a great time with that piece of meat, and there wasn’t a single worm in the salad,” he said.
The diner added that it didn’t matter what food the live worms were in: they should never have been on his plate.
The customer is also curious why no one noticed the maggots, since “at least two, maybe three people” had been handling and preparing the meat before it arrived at the table.
The woman claimed she had yet to receive an apology from the restaurant for the “disgusting” incident which left her feeling “uncomfortable and fearful.”
The customer said she can’t eat steak anymore and is cooking her food longer “just to make sure” she kills anything that might be lurking in her food.
Lone Star Rib House told ABC it would not comment on the woman’s video or “personal opinions” about the restaurant’s hygiene.

A spokesperson confirmed that an independent environmental health officer inspected the restaurant the morning after the family visited.
They said the inspection was due to the complaint of worms.
But no “areas of concern” were found and there were no flies on the premises or any other evidence of maggots.
The report also showed that the meat at the restaurant was stored in sealed bags and the salad was also stored in a sealed box, with no “possibility of contamination.”
Penrith Council spokesperson has since launched an investigation and is working with the restaurant and the NSW Food Authority.
