Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin is ridiculed for calling Donald Trump's Cabinet nominations '1,000 shades of white'

Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin is being ridiculed for calling Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominations “1,000 shades of white.”

Rubin, 62, a former conservative commentator at Jeff Bezos’ newspaper, now largely advocates for Democrats and on her podcast “Jen Rubin’s Green Room.”

Speaking on MSNBC, Rubin didn’t hold back when she ripped into Trump’s nominations over the color of their skin.

“Many of these people, including Tulsi Gabbard, come from backgrounds that would never qualify them for any government position, let alone secretaries of these important government agencies,” Rubin began.

“But I do think there are a few things going on. First, I should note that when you put all those faces on, it was a thousand shades of white. Did you notice that?’

It prompted MSNBC host Ali Velshi to laugh out loud at Rubin’s comment.

“As I was reading them, I actually felt like we should definitely circle a few of them so that we can say this is the one I’m talking about right now,” joked Velshi, who is of Indian descent.

But Rubin wasn’t done with her glowing assessment of Trump’s recent choices.

“Second, there is a certain level of catastrophe and dysfunction that will sink these people. What happens if a terrorist attack happens, God forbid? What happens if a pandemic breaks out?’ Rubin asked.

“The problem with being extreme, irresponsible, and ignorant is that when bad things happen, there is no one to blame but you.

“The good news is that there are people who may not get everything they want, but the bad news is that a lot of bad things can happen to a lot of innocent people as a result.”

On Friday, Trump made a slew of cabinet shots, including the appointment of Dr. Marty Makary to lead the FDA, former Republican Rep. Dave Weldon of Florida to lead the CDC, and Fox News contributor Janette Nesheiwat were tapped as the nation’s next surgeon general, while Sebastian Gorka has been nominated as senior director of counterterrorism from Trump.

Conservatives on X were unimpressed by Rubin’s position.

“This is a mental illness,” wrote Eric Daugherty, a journalist for a local newspaper in Florida.

“This is what MSNBC considers an ‘expert opinion.’ The first thing she notices is the skin color. Wild!’ tweeted journalist Collin Rugg.

“Her argument was that Trump’s choices don’t have enough merit, but then suggested he should choose people based on the color of their skin, not on merit. It doesn’t make any sense.’

‘Racists see everything through the lens of race. This blinds them to the point that they cannot see any other factor accurately,” Chip Gibbons added.

“The hatred of white people is real. No one wants DEI to hire people. They want credible people of merit to fill these positions. It’s not a difficult concept to understand,” said another user.

Rubin signed an opinion piece on behalf of several Washington Post columnists, they were outraged by the newspaper’s refusal to endorse Kamala Harris just before the election.

She has also called for a boycott of MSNBC in response to the hosts of Morning Joe’s secret meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, despite appearing regularly on the network herself.

The Washington Post boss hit back, claiming it was Jeff Bezos who thwarted the paper’s support for Kamala Harris.

The company, owned by the billionaire Amazon founder, has announced it will not support either presidential candidate.

A Harris endorsement had been drafted and reviewed by Bezos, according to David Shipley, the paper’s editor, but it was not enriched until 11 days before the election.

According to the newspaper, at least one editor has resigned CNNwhich also reports that thousands of readers have canceled their subscriptions.

However, publisher Will Lewis rejected the claim that Bezos was involved in the endorsement decision.
