A former Master Chef contestant has paid tribute to her best friend who died suddenly after succumbing to cancer.
Beth ‘Betty’ Tudehope, a young mother and human resources director at Colgate-Palmolive, was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in 2022.
Celebrity chef Justine Schofield posted on her Instagram on Sunday night revealing her heartbreak that Betty had died aged 38.
‘I will love you forever my beautiful Betty. “You were the best friend a girl could have,” she wrote.
‘Never forget you. Rest in peace.’
Former Master Chef contestant and Everyday Gourmet host Justine Schofield (pictured right) paid tribute to her “best” friend Beth “Betty” Tudehope (pictured left) on Sunday night.
The chef showed off a series of photos of her and her best friend together over the years and asked her Instagram followers to donate to Bowel Cancer Australia (pictured, pregnant Justine Schofield and Betty Tudehope).
The Master Chef star, who now has his own show Everyday Gourmet, urged his followers to donate to Bowel Cancer Australia.
Many of Schofield’s famous friends were also quick to show their support.
“Thinking of you, Justine,” wrote The Block star Neale Whitaker.
Fellow chef Gabriel Gate wrote in French: “Oh how sad Justine is.”
Sunrise’s Sam Mac said: “I’m so sorry to hear Juzzy.” I send you lots of love.’
Tudehop’s sister Helen Tudehope started an online fundraiser in September last year to help the family fight the cancer diagnosis.
“We are raising funds to support Beth’s journey to go to the Hope4Cancer Institute in Mexico along with conventional medicine,” he wrote.
The young mother (pictured) underwent major surgery in 2023 to “remove tumors and several affected organs” and was described as “brave” by her sister.
‘Anyone who is lucky enough to know Beth will agree that she is more than just a sister; “She is the best mother to Bella, the most loving daughter and an incredible friend to everyone who crosses her path,” she said.
Tudehope said Betty had already received “nine months of grueling chemotherapy” while still working full-time.
‘She has shown us that cancer can alter your path, but it cannot darken your spirit. “She is an inspiration to everyone,” she stated.
