Investor: Basketball star Lebron James (pictured) has a small stake in Fenway Sports Group
A British film and television studio behind shows like The Kardashians is merging with an American rival co-founded by LeBron James.
Fulwell 73, a London-based production company, has reached a deal with the American basketball star’s outfit, The SpringHill Company, which will include a £32 million investment to fuel its growth.
The alliance is backed by heavyweights including Liverpool FC owner Fenway Sports Group, in which James has a small stake, and Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly, as well as sportswear giant Nike and Fortnite maker , Epic Games.
SpringHill, founded by James and sports marketer Maverick Carter in 2020, counts tennis star Serena Williams among its directors, while Fulwell 73 is co-owned by a group that includes James Corden.
Fulwell is named after a stand at Sunderland AFC’s old stadium and 73 refers to the 1973 FA Cup final, the last major trophy the team won.
Three of the founders of the firm are fans of the club.
The company is behind Corden’s talk show, The Late Late Show, and the Netflix documentary.
