Bleary-eyed Alex Scott Nearly Takes A Tumble As She Leaves The 2024 GQ Men Of The Year Awards After Debuting Bold New Look

She had all eyes on her when she arrived at the star-studded GQ Men of the Year Awards in a bold new look.

And Alex Scott also had all eyes on her as she left the evening when she almost fell outside The Roof Gardens in London on Tuesday night.

The sportscaster, 40, who had transformed her image with a preppy red wig, was unsteady as she left the venue after mingling with a host of celebrities.

Alex sported an androgynous look in a structured black velvet jacket that had huge shoulder pads and showed off her long legs in sheer stockings.

She wore a white shirt under her jacket and silver drop earrings when she arrived on the red carpet.

The annual event brought together actors, filmmakers, athletes, journalists, musicians, artists and writers to celebrate those who have helped shape the industry.

The sportscaster, 40, who had transformed her image with a preppy red wig, was unsteady as she left the venue after mingling with a host of celebrities.

The publication, which also released a special December issue, recognizes those who are “breaking the rules, changing the game and taking their slice of culture to the next level.”

Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer and Central Cee, who star on their own covers, co-hosted the star-studded ceremony.

Both Cole and Kobbie led the sport after the pair enjoyed impressive seasons at club level and played a role in England reaching the Euro 2024 final.

Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty OBE and Paralympic tennis player Alfie Hewett are also recognised.

Other honorees include television stars; Kit Harington, Baby Reindeer’s Richard Gadd, Adrien Brody, Naomi Ackie, Louis Partridge, Bad Sisters Eve Hewson, Ewan Mitchell and One Day’s Ambika Mod.

Also awarded will be the band Fontaines DC, the designer and artist Slawn, the American playwright Jeremy O.Harris, the film director Steve McQueen, the music producer AG Cook, the writer Armando Iannuci and DJ Nia Archives.

Rapman, Marco Capaldo, creative director of Tom Ford, Haider Ackermann are also honored.

Chicken Shop Date’s Amelia Dimoldenberg hosted the red carpet, after going viral with her interview with Andrew Garfield last year.

Earlier in the night, Alex showed off her bold red wig and androgynous ensemble as she posed alongside fellow footballer Leah Williamson on the red carpet.

It was a bold change from her typical look, as fans were used to seeing Alex bundled up and sporting her natural brunette locks while commentating on games (pictured last month).

Last month, Alex said he is now “in the best place” at 40, but admitted it hasn’t always been easy and detailed his struggle with rejection.

talking to Hunger magazine, explained: ‘Sometimes people only see the final process, but not what it took.

‘The rejection, people not thinking I was good enough because of my accent and so on.

“That constant drive to prove people wrong has always been present in that young woman from Poplar.”

Reflecting on her younger self, she added: “That young Alex in the cage had dreams.

‘She wanted to see the world.

“She could see there was a bigger picture and she didn’t want to be trapped in that football cage and think that was her life.”

Alex signed for Arsenal when she was just eight years old and later became their captain.

After appearing 140 times in the Women’s Super League, the star retired from football in September 2017.

She then began to leverage her experience from the presenting chair into BBC Sport landing jobs at the Women’s World Cup.
