Jon Stewart questioned liberal analysis of Kamala Harris’ election loss to Donald Trump, claiming the party “didn’t run with a woke shit” but allowed Republicans to define them that way.

It was the Daily Show host’s first appearance since election night, long after the rest of his late-night brethren had freaked out or criticized the Democrats’ strategy.

Stewart continued to attack the forecasters in a 14-minute-long monologue, but ultimately attacked everyone trying to figure out what happened, especially several commentators who had said Democrats were too woke.

“I just have a problem with the woke theory… I just don’t remember seeing any Democrats running on this shit,” the comedian said, after playing clips of CNN, Fox News and MSNBC commentators theorizing why Harris lost. .

He then showed a wide range of Democratic campaign ads, with candidates from Sherrod Brown to Jon Tester to Pat Ryan claiming they would secure the border and talking about how they were against defunding the police.

Stewart criticized Democrats, including Harris, for “having been similar to Republicans for the last four months.”

Stewart seemed furious, slamming his script against his desk several times and exclaiming, “Those are the Democrats!”

He imitated the ads and joked: ‘I gave the police more money than they wanted! I gave them planes and tanks! I built a moat around the country and filled it with alligators and chlamydia.

“They didn’t talk about pronouns, they didn’t say Latinx, it was quite the opposite,” he added, before playing even more Democratic campaign messages with conservative messages.

Some of them delved into issues such as transgender people playing sports and sex changes in general, while others professed anti-China beliefs and claimed to be proud gun owners.

He even turned on Harris and punched her for professing that she owns a Glock and would shoot any intruder.

‘They didn’t do the waking up thing. They acted like Republicans for the last four months. They wore camouflage hats and attended Cheney family gatherings,” he said, referencing Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney and the support of her father and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

He said Democrats refused to define themselves and got stuck in what Republicans projected onto them.

“Most Democrats were running against an identity that was defined for them based on a couple months of George Floyd/defund the police/#MeToo posts on Instagram from four years ago,” he said.

Ultimately, Stewart said, there was a very clear reason why Harris and the Democrats were defeated.

‘What happened was that the country felt that the government was not working for them and that Democrats, in particular, were taking their hard-earned money and giving it to people who didn’t deserve it as much as they did. And so, the Democrats were defeated.”

He had a message of hope for the party, pointing out how badly they had been defeated in 1984 by Ronald Reagan, before his return in the early ’90s with Bill Clinton.

While not all late-night shows had a specifically political slant after the election, nearly all left-leaning hosts approached Trump’s victory in a downbeat manner.

Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers gave pep talks to their solidly Democratic, Trump-hating audience, while Jimmy Kimmel spoke on the liberal Pod Save America podcast and Jimmy Fallon discussed the results and sang a hopeful song with The View’s Whoopi Goldberg.

Meyers gave his typical 16-minute comedic summary of the show and The Daily Show got totally political, as usual.

The shows also played recorded clips, with Fallon lampooning fast-talking cable news anchors and Kimmel mocking Americans who Googled basic election facts on voting day.

The exception was Bill Maher, who lashed out at the Democratic Party, claiming it is full of “brats and snobs” who need to “look in the mirror” after losing the election to Donald Trump.

Stewart said Democrats refused to define themselves and were trapped in what Republicans projected onto them.

Maher’s recap was a lively parody of both sides, a stark contrast to many of the liberal late-night hosts who lost their minds over the election earlier this week.

The comedian, who predicted Kamala Harris would win the election and has long criticized the Republican Party on his HBO show, had harsh words for his own side in his monologue Friday night.

‘My message to the losers: Losers look in the mirror! For months, Democrats have been saying: How is this even close? And they’re right, it wasn’t,’ he said, noting that Trump ran pretty easily.

He fiercely attacked a Democratic Party that has become the representative of college-educated elites and identity politics: “You’re brats and snobs, and people don’t like that.”
