A popular acai product sold in restaurants and bars in New South Wales has been recalled over fears of Salmonella contamination.
Tropical Brazil issued a recall of its Acai with Guaraná products this week, with the New South Wales Food Authority warning that microbial contamination poses health risks to consumers.
“Food products contaminated with Salmonella can cause illness if consumed,” warns the authority.
‘Consumers should not eat this product. Consumers must return products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
“All consumers concerned about their health should consult a doctor.”
Salmonella can be fatal, although most cases are mild.
Hazardous products are marked Lot 302, with an expiration date of August 1, 2026.
