A woman has drowned at a popular beach on Sydney’s northern beaches.
Police and paramedics rushed to Shelly Beach in Manly at around 10am on Friday following reports of concern for welfare.
Despite desperate efforts to revive the 63-year-old woman, she died at the scene.
“Upon arrival, officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command were informed that a 63-year-old woman had been found unconscious in the water,” police said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner and investigations will continue.
Shelly Beach is popular with tourists and locals for swimming and snorkeling.
