Taylor Swift apologized for causing a moment of confusion Thursday night during her second of four sold-out shows at the Tokyo Dome stadium.

While teasing which surprise songs she would add to her set list for the three-hour Eras tour, the 34-year-old pop star sent the crowd of 55,000 into a frenzy when she announced her plans to perform “two new songs” that night.

Before she could even finish her sentence, the 14-time Grammy winner was quickly interrupted by loud applause and screams from fans, who assumed she was about to sing new material from her unreleased album, The Tortured Poets Department.

“Not on my new album,” he quickly clarified. “I’m so sorry, I just realized what you thought I said.”

She continued: “They’re new live, they’re not on the new album, oh my god, I’m so sorry.”

The Cruel Summer hitmaker proceeded to perform her song, Electric Touch, on the piano, which was originally intended for her 2010 studio album, Speak Now.

While the tune, which features Fall Out Boy, did not appear on the original cut, he included it on his re-recorded 2023 album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

The pop-punk and pop rock song was produced with Aaron Dessner and describes doubts about a new romance.

The chorus says: “All I know is that this could break my heart or bring it back to life. I have a feeling your electric touch could fill this ghost town with life.”

It reached number 35 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 16 on Hot Country Songs.

Her second surprise song was her 2012 song, Eyes Open, written for the soundtrack of the Hunger Games movie, The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond.

‘I love this. And I really relate to it and it resonates with me a lot, which makes sense because I wrote it,” she said before the performance.

While Swift may have said she had never sung it live before, she actually premiered the song during a performance in Auckland for her Speak Now world tour.

At the time, she told the crowd, “I’m really excited about this… but, I mean, don’t you think I’d get in trouble if I played it now?” Probably not, right?

While on her journey of re-recording her discography while under contract to Big Machine Records, which dates back to 2006, Swift released Eyes Open (Taylor’s Version) last year.

On Wednesday, Swift revealed that she planned to announce her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, at her Tokyo concerts if she hadn’t won any Grammys.

The star, who won two awards at Sunday’s ceremony, including Album of the Year for Midnights, told the audience on Wednesday: “Going into the Grammys, going in, I had this plan.

But I hadn’t really told many other people. I thought, ‘Okay, if I’m lucky enough to get there and win something tonight, I’ll do it.’ I’m just going to announce my new album.

And, fortunately, that ended up happening. My backup plan was to do it tonight in Tokyo.

‘But thanks to you and your support, I was lucky enough to win a Grammy and tell you about it on the Grammy stage. And now we can talk about it later, we can make a report tonight.

This comes after Taylor responded to critics who questioned why she writes “so many albums” during her Eras Tour in Tokyo on Wednesday.

‘I’m having fun, leave me alone!’ Swift mused.

The star also revealed that work on the new album began right after finishing his last album Midnights in 2022.

“I’ve been working on Tortured Poets since I turned in Midnights.”

‘You deliver an album months in advance to be able to make vinyl, which are the best. So I started working on it straight after and I’ve been working on it for about two years.’
