Married At First Sight’s Nasser Sultan pretended to be in a gay relationship with a man 30 years his junior after his stint on the dating show in 2018.
Radio producer Joshua Fox, who has previously worked with several Australian reality stars on their media and social content strategies, made the revelation in his new book ‘What You Into?’ while documenting his media career.
He explained how the former reality star staged paparazzi photos on a date with fashion student Eyob Geist, 21, while earning $5,000 from speculation.
In an excerpt shared with Daily Mail Australia, Joshua revealed that he first met Nasser in 2018 and that they devised publicity stunts to keep him in the press.
“Channel Nine describes Married at First Sight as a social experiment and Nasser quickly became my own social experiment,” he wrote.
“He told me he was willing to do anything to stay relevant, and I explained that since he was a not-well-liked 51-year-old man, we would have to get creative.”
Joshua then explained how Nasser came up with the idea to lean into speculation about his sexuality and made $5,000 from a set of photographs of him on a date with a 21-year-old man.
“The story, which seemingly confirmed what fans of the show had already suspected about Nasser, went so viral that we quickly organized a second series of photographs that sold for $3,000,” he wrote.

Nasser told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday that the “fake” images helped launch his media career.
“I had left the show and the media was wondering if I was gay or not because I was the only one who wasn’t sleeping with my wife at the time. So Josh came up with this idea and approached me,” he explained.
‘I told him I wanted money for this because I wasn’t doing it for free. So they paid me the money and put me on the cover of the magazine.
Nasser continued: ‘We got a random person and pretended he and I were dating and took the photos. Within an hour and a half, it had a million views.’
“That’s what got my name out there and then there was interest from the media.”

The former Australian magazine NW published images from the time of Nasser enjoying a “drunken” lunch with Eyob, who was 30 years his junior.
“They definitely seemed like more than friends… Nasser couldn’t keep his hands off her!” a source allegedly told the magazine at the time.
“They tried to keep a low profile, but after a couple of drinks they didn’t seem to care who was noticing them.”
The source continued: “At one point, Nasser was holding the guy’s hand and appeared to kiss him on the cheek while whispering in his ear.”
After questions were raised about Nasser’s sexuality following his appearance on MAFS, he told The Kyle & Jackie O Show: “I’m not 110 percent gay.”
He added: “I live in the gay community, believe me… If I was gay, I’d be a rock star!” If I was gay, I’d live that lifestyle… I’m 100 million percent straight.’
‘What do you like?’ It is now available in bookstores
