A car enthusiast has insisted that potential car buyers avoid purchasing five types of sedans “at all costs”.
The seasoned reviewer, known online only as Bev, explained why he thinks these particular sedans aren’t as great as other vehicles in a recent video.
“I wouldn’t recommend these sedans to my worst enemy,” Bev said.
Four of the five vehicles Bev claimed were horrible were compact or mid-size vehicles, but she also discussed alleged problems with a luxury sedan.
More than 500,000 social media users viewed the video, and despite the controversial comments, Bev made it clear which sedans she thought were the worst to own.
Bev, an experienced service writer, explained in a video why she thinks five sedans is unsatisfactory.
Kia Optima
Bev claimed that insurance companies are not interested in covering the Kia Optimas
The Kia Optima, now known as the Kia K5, was the first sedan Bev trashed in her Oct. 18 TikTok, saying insurance and engine issues were to blame.
According to TikToker, insurance companies don’t want to cover cars because “they’re easy to steal.” He also found the cars’ engines “absolutely horrible.”
Bev may not have been far away from frequent Kia Optima thefts since lawyers revealed Kia vehicles were stolen at “alarmingly high rates” since 2021, according to SF Gate.
Kia Optimas were also targeted by the Kia Boys TikTok challenge, which showed thieves using USB cables to steal the vehicles.
However, the 2024 Kia K5 received mostly positive reviews from drivers in Edmundsand more than one driver wrote that they love the power of the engine.
chevy cruze
Bev claimed that Chevy Cruze vehicles were a ‘money pit’ and not worth buying
Once Bev finished criticizing the Kia Optima, she stated that the Chevy Cruze was a “money” sedan that wasn’t worth buying.
The main problem Bev identified was timing chains, an engine part that helps a vehicle’s engine propel and produce power.
Bev alleged that timing chains can have problems around 100,000 miles.
The Chevy Cruze went out of production in 2020, but it could be improved when the company launches a redesigned version in 2025.
Mitsubishi Mirage G4
Bev claimed that the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 was the cheapest vehicle on the market
The discontinued vehicles could potentially be cheaper than the Mitsubishi Mirage G4, which Bev says “G sucks.”
The TikToker said it was the least expensive vehicle on the market and claimed it is underpowered.
He also claimed that the vehicles are “unreliable” and have interiors “made of Lego.”
Bev’s claims were similar to those of the expert reviewers of Kelley Blue Bookwho criticized its “poor performance” and “low-rent interior” with its 3.1 out of five star rating.
Alfa Romeo Giulia
The Alfa Romeo Giulia was the only luxury sedan that Bev destroyed in her TikTok video
Bev also heavily criticized the Alfa Romeo Giulia, which he said was “terrible”.
According to the car expert, the turbocharged inline-four in these sedans is horrible, and his friend Evan claimed it was the worst vehicle he’s ever owned.
The only luxury sedan that Bev destroyed in her video is described as a “timeless beauty at the service of your emotions” in the Alfa Romeo Giulia. website.
Car owners at Edmunds also have an opposite opinion on the engine, with experts stating that one of the advantages of a 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia is its ‘powerful turbocharged engine.’
Chrysler 200
Bev returned to another mid-size vehicle that is no longer in production: the Chrysler 200.
Calling him “the stupid little brother of the 300,” the TikToker claimed he couldn’t do anything right.
Several drivers have stated that this vehicle is more reliable than Bev said, but the vehicles have had electrical, transmission, and engine problems in the past.
More than 900 TikTok users have discussed their alleged experiences with vehicles over the past few days, with several commenters claiming Bev’s opinions were wrong.
Several commenters called their Kia Optimas cars reliable and one person stated that they simply store their vehicle in a place where no one can steal it.
Others insisted Bev was wrong about the Alfa Romeo Giulia.
“The Alfas are not unreliable, their quality scores are increasing and the engines are super reliable with proper maintenance,” wrote one TikTok user.
At least three commenters agreed with Bev about the Chevy Cruz, with one person stating that there were “a lot of problems” with her vehicle.
