A Target shopper vowed to never return to the store again after an incident with a staff member left him in shock.

A Target shopper vowed to never return after an encounter with staff left him stunned.

“I’m not doing self-checkout at Target anymore,” TikTok creator skylouieee said in a recent video.

He explained that he made a “quick trip” to Target to grab some painkillers and a bottle of Gatorade.

As he was packing his bags and heading out, he says a store employee stopped him and asked if he had paid for the drink.

The Target employee allegedly claimed they didn’t see him scan the Gatorade and insisted he speak to the team manager.

“I’m just trying to get home, I’m not trying to start anything stupid,” skylouieee explained to her followers.

“I showed them the receipt and they ended up letting me go.

‘I just wanted to start something because I was bored.

“From now on I’m sticking with Walmart,” he concluded in the video.

“Okay, it doesn’t matter if they saw you call the Gatorade or not, if the receipt says you paid for the Gatorade, then you paid for it,” one viewer wrote in the comments below the video.

‘That’s crazy. They generally seem relaxed on target,” wrote another.

Meanwhile, Walmart has introduced a creative solution to combat theft at its self-checkouts.

The retailer’s new feature allows customers to simply pass an item through the scanner, which registers it without the need for a visible barcode.

This technology works with Walmart Great Value products, such as whole-grain cookies, chocolate bars, and croissant sandwiches.

Invisible barcodes, introduced in 2019 through Walmart’s partnership with Digimarc, are printed throughout the product. Although invisible to the eye, these barcodes are easily detected by self-checkout scanners.

The incident involving skylouieee allegedly took place at a Target self-checkout.

This hasn’t stopped some very brazen shoppers from stealing from stores.

Recently, a Walmart customer sparked outrage after filming herself shoplifting at a self-checkout register and posting it online.

The woman, who goes by Nesha on TikTok, she posted a video of herself pretending to scan items at a self-checkout.

She demonstrated the “fake scanning” tactic used by thieves at self-checkout registers.

Thieves scan some items but not others, hoping staff won’t notice. If they get caught, they pretend it was an accident.

But Nesha gets instant karma after trying to steal a backpack, unaware of the new technology Walmart has to catch criminals like her.

A worker caught her and she was banned from Walmart stores for two years. You could also face police action.
