Tuchel is a former German football coach and player.

He is widely regarded as a tactical expert in the modern game and one of the game’s best current coaches.

playing career

Tuchel began his football career under the guidance of his father at his local club TSV Krumbach.

After impressing as a defender, he moved to Augsburg’s youth academy at the age of 15, where he remained until he was released at the age of 19 and joined Stuggart Kickers in the German second division.

Despite his knowledge of the game, he failed to break into the first team squad and his appearances for the team were limited.

After two seasons and just eight league games, Tuchel moved to fourth division side SSV Ulm, where he became a key part of the team.

His playing days came to an end in 1998 due to a knee injury, Tuchel was just 25 years old when he retired.

As a footballer, Tuchel enjoyed spells with German sides Stuggart Kickers and SSV Ulm before a knee injury forced him into early retirement at the age of 25.

Tuchel’s coaching journey began in 2000, when Ralf Rangnick appointed him to take charge of VfB Stuggart’s under-19 team, which included future German internationals Mario Gómez and Holgar Badstuder.

He led his team to the under-19 Bundesliga title in 2004, before returning to his former club FC Augsburg to take up a role in the youth system before taking charge of the second team.

Tuchel’s big job came through Mainz 05 when he replaced compatriot Jurgen Klopp as coach in 2009.

During his five-year reign, Tuchel was applauded for stabilizing the club’s position in the Bundesliga and for his tactical genius, which consisted of high-energy attacking play.

Tuchel began to gain recognition as one of the best coaches in modern football during his time at German giants Borussia Dortmund, where he lifted the DfB Pokal trophy during the 2016-17 season.

From there, his status as one of the best coaches in the world only grew, moving from the German giants to enjoying successful spells with European powers PSG, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
