Travis Hunter will play against Arizona on Saturday.

The Colorado defensive back and wide receiver, a Heisman star hopeful, missed the second half of the Buffaloes’ loss to Kansas State in Week 7 after suffering an apparent right shoulder injury in the first half. Hunter had played 44 of the game’s first 45 snaps before missing the final 13 snaps of the second quarter and the entire second half.

“Travis should play for sure on Saturday, Jimmy (Horn) too,” Colorado coach Deion Sanders said in his weekly news conference Tuesday.

Colorado missed Hunter and Horn terribly in the second half. Not only did Colorado need to replace Hunter on both sides of the ball, Horn was also injured in the first half and did not play in the second half. Hunter is the team’s leading receiver with 49 receptions for 587 yards and six touchdowns. Horn is the team’s second-leading receiver with 26 receptions for 347 yards and a touchdown.

Omarion Miller stepped in in his absence. He entered the K-State game with just two receptions on the season and had eight receptions for 145 yards against the Wildcats. However, he suffered a left leg injury on that eighth reception and Sanders said Tuesday that he does not anticipate Miller returning this season.

“I think he had surgery yesterday, so I don’t think he’ll be back this season,” Sanders said.

The loss to Kansas State dropped Colorado to 4-2 overall, but it was the Buffaloes’ first Big 12 loss of the season. Colorado is still fully in the hunt for the Big 12 title. Only three conference teams are undefeated in conference play and eight of the league’s 16 teams already have two or more conference losses.
