The Cleveland Guardians are in the American League Championship Series after beating the Tigers 7-3 in a pivotal Game 5 of the Division Series on Saturday.
Cleveland, seeking its first World Series title since 1948, went two games without a run early in the series when the Tigers nearly pulled ahead.
But the Guardians’ bats woke up in Games 4 and 5 and advanced thanks to a five-run fifth inning on Saturday.
Cleveland will face the Yankees in the next round.
It is Cleveland’s first appearance in the American League Championship Series since 2016.
