The town was officially named Lambertville in 1810 in honor of John Lambert, who served as acting governor of New Jersey.

According to The New York Times, it is known as a gay-friendly tourist destination with a more low-key atmosphere than New York’s Fire Island.

The Delaware and Raritan Canal Trail along the Delaware River is a popular place for locals and visitors to run, bike, or just stroll taking in the views.

Every April the city celebrates a peculiar annual tradition of celebrating the return of the tarpon to the river.

ShadFest has been around since 1981 and is a chance to try different local foods and crafts from the companies setting up stalls. The event also supports local nonprofit organizations.
