The bodies of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies remained hidden for days under a mound of dirt on a quiet gravel road; Detectives likely passed by the site several times while investigating a nearby location during their week-long search for the two men.

His remains were unearthed Tuesday, more than a week after his alleged murder at the hands of Beau Lamarre-Condon, who ultimately decided to cooperate with police behind bars after speaking with a lawyer..

Mr Lamarre-Condon, who was a senior NSW Police constable at the time of the alleged double murder but has since been stood down from service without pay, is accused of using his police-issued Glock pistol to shoot the couple on Baird’s rental terrace in Paddington, in Sydney’s inner suburbs, on February 19.

The two men’s bloodied clothes were allegedly thrown into a bin in Cronulla, almost 30 kilometers away, before their bodies were hidden in surfboard bags.

Police allege that Lamarre-Condon rented a white Toyota HiAce van at Sydney Airport and drove the bodies about 180 kilometers southwest of Sydney to the small town of Bungonia, in the Southern Tablelands, and buried them in a shallow grave next to to a fence. on Jerrara Road.

The temporary tomb was more of a gravel niche next to the entrance to the church of the Holy Greek Orthodox Monastery of Saint Fanourios.

A team of police spent Wednesday combing the bush surrounding the site looking for evidence, with the help of a sniffer dog, pickaxes and rakes.

As part of the investigation, several objects found near the bodies have been collected.

Mr. Baird’s heartbroken relatives, who traveled to the area from the interstate, visited the scene under police guard Tuesday night.

Relatives spent about 15 minutes with Mr. Baird’s body before leaving.

Meanwhile, Baird and Davies’ devastated friends gathered on Brontë Beach for a vigil.

The bodies were then taken to Lidcombe mortuary in western Sydney while detectives remained at the scene in Bungonia.

Lamarre-Condon handed himself in to Bondi police station on Thursday last week, before being charged with two counts of murder on Friday.

Police found the remains at 1pm on Tuesday and contacted the families of Baird and Davies moments later.

Around noon, Lamarre-Condon heads south from Sydney towards Bungonia with an acquaintance.

He stops at a store and buys an angle grinder and a lock. Then buy weights and torches.

He leaves the acquaintance at the door of a rural property while he walks away for about 30 minutes.

Thursday February 22

4:30am: Constable Lamarre-Condon leaves the Bungonia area and heads to Newcastle, where he uses a hose to clean the rented van.

5am: Leave Newcastle and drive south to Sydney.

10:39: Lamarre-Condon surrenders to police

2:00 p.m.: He is charged with two counts of murder and refuses to cooperate with police.

Police divers search several dams on a remote property in Bungonia, 180 kilometers southwest of Sydney, without finding any trace of the missing.

Tuesday February 27

Two more crime scenes are closed at Grays Point in Sydney’s south, near Lamarre-Condon’s childhood home and at a location in the Royal National Park.

11 a.m.: Lamarre-Condon agrees to talk to detectives and help them search for the bodies.

1:00 p.m.: Two bodies stuffed in surf bags and partially hidden by rocks and debris are found a 20-minute drive from the Bungonia dams that were searched on Monday.
