Referees have complained about the quality of the food available to them in Brighton after the match.

Brighton have received a yellow card from referees who have complained about the level of post-match food at the Amex this season, which they say is the worst in the Premier League.

Last year, referees made a number of requests, including a red card for sandwiches and fatty foods.

They prefer proteins (such as chicken, beef or fish) with vegetables and salad.

However, sources have told Agenda that food has “fallen off a cliff” this season, with officials horrified to find cold food in Tupperware boxes.

Other clubs offer hot meals and, in many cases, officials serve the same food that is given to the players.

England pay tribute to Southgate

Gareth Southgate may no longer be England manager, but there is now a permanent reminder of his time in charge of the Three Lions at St George’s Park.

Officials added a photo of the 54-year-old to a wall showing everyone who has coached the national team.

PGMOL in search of future VARs

How much would you like to be paid to become a VAR?

Refereeing body PGMOL is looking for candidates to join its Stockley Park operation for a job that should come with a health warning.

The ad lists the “ability to work in a high-pressure live streaming environment” among the skills needed, along with “high skills in attentive listening, particularly under extreme pressure.”

One would imagine the salary for the position would reflect that, but attention has been drawn to the apparently meager offer of £25,800 a year.

Lavender is tasked with bringing Cheltenham into the modern era

Guy Lavender is leaving his chief executive role at MCC to take charge of Cheltenham Racecourse, with a brief, it is believed, to bring it into the modern era.

However, coach Kim Bailey was reprimanded for using his phone in the Lord’s Pavilion, while his wife, Clare, was told she couldn’t enter because she was wearing the wrong shoes.

His son Archie was making his debut for Gloucestershire against Middlesex at the time with a few hundred in attendance.

It is not an enthusiastic endorsement of the modern era.

Frank Thompson gives his opinion

Jeff Thomson, who said in the mid-1970s that he liked to hit English batsmen, recently spoke to the Hampshire Cricket Society.

The 74-year-old, who did not feature in the one-day matches between England and Australia, said Australian goalkeeper Alex Carey was wrong about Jonny Bairstow’s failure at Lord’s last summer.

He also called David Warner an “imbecile” and said he preferred London to Sydney as a city, to the surprise of an appreciative audience.
