Channel Nine has launched an investigation after a Married At First Sight groom, who is set to appear in the 2025 season, faced court over serious domestic violence allegations.

In November 2021, a New South Wales court dismissed charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, domestic violence, common assault and resisting police against Adrian Araouzou, after a magistrate found him not guilty.

He has denied the serious allegations after producers launched a review into how he was selected to appear on the popular dating show.

MAFS producers Endemol Shine have questioned his duty of care towards the woman who has been partnered with him on the show.

Daily Mail Australia understands that Endemol and Nine launched an internal investigation and found that Araouzou committed no wrongdoing.

According The AustralianCourt documents indicate that in June 2020, police were called to the Sydney home Araouzou and her partner shared after a witness allegedly heard screaming.

Officers arrived to find a woman “hysterical and barely consolable” in the bathroom, naked, with her head in her hands and blood seeping from her head, police said in a report.

“Due to the defendant’s actions, police were forced to restrain him via an unarmed stop,” police said.

The woman signed a police statement several days later claiming that her injuries were the result of a seizure and not because Araouzou assaulted her.

A hospital report from that night states that she was “unsure of what happened but fears she may have been assaulted by her partner.”

Police said at the time of the incident that they believed the woman was “too scared” to speak.

A magistrate declared Araouzou innocent and acquitted him of any wrongdoing.

Araouzou said in a statement to The Australian on Tuesday: “Any suggestion of physical assault is categorically rejected.”

“I had my day in court, I was found not guilty and the restraining order application was dismissed. Any further allegations are completely baseless and highly defamatory,” he said through a lawyer.
