Eagles star WR A.J. Brown expects to miss 'a couple weeks' with hamstring injury

AJ Brown’s hamstring injury will keep him out for more than just one game.

The Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver told ESPN on Monday night during their matchup with the Atlanta Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field that he expects to be out for “a couple of weeks” due to the injury.

It’s unclear how long Brown will be out, or whether the Eagles are considering placing him on injured reserve.

Brown first appeared on the Eagles’ injury report on Friday after his hamstring was injured during practice. He then missed Saturday’s practice and the team officially ruled him out of Monday night’s game at Philadelphia on Sunday.

Brown racked up 1,456 receiving yards last season, marking his second consecutive campaign with at least 1,400 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. The 27-year-old signed a three-year, $96 million contract extension with the team earlier this year. That deal, which briefly made him the league’s highest-paid wide receiver, will keep him in Philadelphia through the 2029 season.

Brown also shined for the Eagles in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil last week. He had a team-high 119 receiving yards and one touchdown on five receptions in a 34-29 win.

With Brown now out of action, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will likely turn to DeVonta Smith in his absence. Smith, who had 84 yards on seven receptions in their win over the Packers, scored Philadelphia’s first touchdown on Monday night with a 7-yard reception in the second quarter against the Atlanta Falcons.
