A mother revealed that everyone in her house uses the same deodorant, even though her husband hates it.
A content creator whose username is “missusmom” posted a video explaining the reasons why she decided to share antiperspirant with her family members.
In the TikToker’s video, which garnered over a million views, the influencer recalled her debate with her husband in which she argued that using the same deodorant “isn’t disgusting.”
In addition to believing the practice is hygienic, the content creator also said she saves money by using a communal antiperspirant.
She said each deodorant costs “about $10 to $12 each,” so the costs would add up quickly for her larger family.
A mother revealed that everyone in her house uses the same deodorant, even though her husband finds it disgusting.
A content creator who goes by the name ‘missusmom’ has posted a video explaining the reasons why she decided to share antiperspirant with her family members.
She began her video by sincerely asking her followers: ‘Question: Does everyone in your house share deodorant, or does each member who uses deodorant have their own deodorant stick?
Let me tell you why I ask this and then let me tell you what the correct answer is.
‘So, I was in the shower last night and my husband came in to get ready for work and said, “I can’t find my deodorant.”
“I say, ‘It’s in the drawer where it always is.'”
“He said, ‘I can’t find it. Our son used it. I bet he took it.'”
She continued: ‘I say, ‘He’s not the one moving things. It’s the daughters who move things. I mean, he didn’t take it. He uses it here.’
He says, “Why can’t he have his own?”
“And I thought, ‘Why would I have my own? I’m not going to pay for another whole bar of deodorant.'”
In the TikToker’s video, which garnered over a million views, the influencer recalled her debate with her husband in which she argued that using the same deodorant ‘isn’t disgusting.’
“He says, ‘You know that’s disgusting, right?'”
The content creator argued: “I was like, ‘No, it’s not.’ I was like, ‘Me and the girls share deodorant. That’s not gross.'”
He says, “Yeah, but you don’t have any armpit hair.”
“And I said, ‘Okay, but even if we did, I think we’d still share it,’ and he said, ‘No, we have to get our own.'”
‘I thought, “I’m not going to buy five or eight sticks of deodorant every month. I’d have to add extra money to our budget.”
He concluded: “We all use medical grade deodorant. It costs between $10 and $12 each.”
‘I’m not going to spend $60 to $80 on deodorant just so everyone can have their own deodorant.
“Am I crazy and wrong, or is he delusional, because I personally believe he is delusional?”
The video garnered over a million views, 36,600 likes and 39,400 mixed comments.
Most people disagreed with the content creator and were disgusted by the idea of sharing deodorant.
One person wrote: “I have never in my life heard of ANYONE sharing deodorant unless they were in dire need.”
A second person commented: “Toothbrushes, razors, hairbrushes and deodorant are not shared products. What happens if someone has a staph infection or impetigo?”
In addition to the fact that the content creator believes the practice is hygienic in her books, she also claimed that she saves money by having a communal antiperspirant.
A third person added: “I’ve never heard of sharing deodorant. We each have our own bacteria in our armpits.”
A fourth person wrote: “Sorry, but I’ve never met anyone who has shared deodorant. In fact, we all have several. The kids have one for home, one for the gym locker room, gym bag, car, etc.”
The content creator responded: ‘Oh my god, I’ve shared my whole life with everyone.’
Other users had follow-up questions for the mother.
One person asked: “What happens when a person has to be away from home for a few days? How is it chosen who is allowed to use deodorant these days?”
A second person asked: “I’m confused. Doesn’t deodorant go out twice as fast if you share it? So if everyone buys their own, they’ll replace it less often.”
Some users who share the deodorant came to the mother’s defense in the comments.
One person wrote: ‘I am a mother of two girls and we share.’
A second person commented: “We share. I’ve done it all my life. Isn’t that normal?”
A third person added: “My wife and I use the same deodorant.”
A fourth person wrote: “My mother, sister and I shared deodorant when we were kids. I don’t have kids, but I don’t find it strange. I’m sure in most countries people share it.”

According to a 2022 survey conducted by the Impulse researchIt was discovered that 35 percent of people share their deodorant with their family, friends or partner.
Cosmetic dermatologist Neal Schultz shared with The HuffPost which urges us to end this unhygienic habit, because antiperspirants “only serve to reduce perspiration.”
She warned that using the same toothpick can lead to the transfer of fungi, yeast, bacteria, skin cells and germs.
Neal argues that it’s healthiest for each person to have their own deodorant, or if you want to continue sharing, at least make sure you’re using a spray antiperspirant, rather than a stick.
