An Oregon high school principal made a shocking announcement about one of his teachers.

Scott Gragg, principal of McNary Middle School in Keizer, recently shared a message from diesel technology teacher Tristan Thiel, who announced he had transitioned over the summer and asked the public to embrace his new identity.

“I’m confident our McNary family will do an incredible job supporting her on this journey,” Gragg wrote in the notice to parents and students. obtained by the popular TikTok X account Libs.

‘Thank you in advance for your attention and support to Tristan.’

She went on to share the email Thiel sent to his own students, in which he says he is “happy to announce… that I have decided to change my gender identity from male to female.”

“This letter is intended to inform students, their parents and guardians that I have decided to return to school identifying as my authentic self, the woman (she, her, miss) that I truly am,” Thiel wrote in the letter shared on social media.

She noted that “transition is a deeply personal journey for everyone and I ask for your understanding and respect during this time of change.”

“I want students to know that I am still the same teacher who is dedicated to their growth, learning and well-being. My passion for education and my commitment to helping them succeed remain the same,” Thiel said.

‘I’m here to support you and make sure you feel safe and valued in our classroom.’

She then thanked parents and guardians for their “continued support of their son’s education.”

‘I understand that you may have questions or concerns. Please direct them to the McNary administrative team and we will do our best to address them.’

Thiel also insisted that his “intention is not to impose my personal views or ideas on others, but rather to share my passion for diesel technology with my students here at McNary.”

“Your understanding and support mean a lot to me and I am committed to working with the school district to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved.”

But many X users were horrified by Thiel’s announcement and the director’s endorsement.

“Only in Oregon,” one mother wrote.

“This is insane,” she continued. “There is no way someone that age doesn’t have serious mental health and fetish issues and shouldn’t be AWAY from children.”

Podcaster Gideon 6ix also claimed that “there’s nothing ‘authentic’ about what this person does. It’s sad.”

“It’s ridiculous that this person would try to force others to play pretend.”

William Ward also wrote on Facebook that Thiel holds “children’s ability to learn a trade” hostage on the condition that they be forced to accept their mental instability or else be suspended or expelled from school.

“You know that any child who doesn’t accept that will be threatened with some kind of punishment for using the wrong gender or a false name for a mentally ill person,” she said.

Meanwhile, others suggested that Thiel’s transition is emblematic of Oregon’s school system.

“I pulled my son out of Oregon public schools,” wrote one X user. “Highly recommend. They’re weird.”

Another said that “Oregon’s public school system is a lost cause.”

“The Oregon Department of Education is run by a group of radical progressives,” he wrote, suggesting that parents should instead “homeschool their children or find a good private school.”
