Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, so what will she do now with her “lucky” $5.6 million green engagement ring?
Given its history, it’s likely this ring will add to her already impressive collection of five engagement rings, bringing the value to over $17 million.
After all, she still has the pink rock Ben gave her 20 years ago, as well as rings from her ex-husbands Marc Anthony, Cris Judd and Ojani Noa. And she has her engagement ring from Alex Rodriguez, whom she never married.
But her most expensive piece remains Anthony’s blue diamond ring, valued at $6.5 million.
Laura Taylor, Engagement Ring Specialist at Lorel Diamondstold DailyMail.com: ‘Jennifer Lopez has amassed a remarkable collection of engagement rings over the years, each representing a different chapter of her life.
‘In the United States, engagement rings are typically considered gifts, meaning J.Lo is legally entitled to keep the ring after the divorce unless otherwise agreed in a prenuptial agreement.’

She wore her Ben rings during a Delola ad last month.
The center stone is a green diamond.
‘Since J.Lo and Ben Affleck did not have a prenuptial agreement, the engagement ring, a stunning 8.5-carat cushion-cut green diamond, will likely be added to her collection.
The couple married first in Nevada and then in Georgia.
But in California, engagement rings are generally considered separate property and courts often rule in favor of the recipient in a divorce. This is because the ring is usually given as a gift before marriage and the argument is that the gift belongs to the recipient regardless of whether the relationship lasts or not.
“With the addition of Ben Affleck’s green engagement ring, J.Lo’s engagement ring collection is now worth an estimated $17 million,” Laura added.
‘The most expensive ring she has kept is Anthony’s blue diamond ring, which she described in a 2021 interview as her most prized piece of jewelry, even more so than the pink diamond Ben gave her during their first engagement,’ she added.
‘While her latest engagement ring is certainly beautiful, I suspect Anthony’s engagement ring will still take the top spot for her.
‘She was married to Marc for ten years, and they share two children from that marriage, so I think it’s much more sentimental for her, not to mention it’s the most expensive in her collection thanks to the size, quality and being one of the rarest colored diamonds in the world, just ahead of green diamonds.’
Lorel Diamonds engagement ring specialist Taylor shares details and appraisals for each of the six rings in J.Lo’s collection.
‘J.Lo’s first engagement ring was from Ojani Noa in 1997. It was a 3.5 carat marquise-cut diamond on a yellow gold band, simple yet elegant, valued today at around $130,000.’

‘Cris Judd proposed in 2001 with an emerald-cut diamond set in a platinum band with pavé diamonds, worth around $200,000.’
Then there is the pink ring.
Ben Affleck’s first proposal in 2002 made headlines with a 6-carat radiant-cut pink diamond flanked by two trapezoid-cut white diamonds, set on a platinum band.
‘This iconic ring is valued at approximately $2.6 million and is one of the most famous colored diamond engagement rings in the world.’
They are seen here in November; she filed for divorce on their second wedding anniversary.
‘The most expensive and rare ring in J.Lo’s collection, a magnificent 8.5-carat radiant-cut blue diamond flanked by trapezoid-cut diamonds on a platinum band, was gifted to her by Marc Anthony and is now worth $6.5 million.
‘Despite receiving more rings since then, this remains J.Lo’s most prized piece of jewelry.’
‘Alex Rodriguez’s 2019 proposal featured a massive 15-carat emerald-cut diamond set in a platinum band. This bold and stunning ring is valued at around $2 million.’
‘Ben Affleck proposed to J.Lo for the second time with an 8.5-carat cushion-cut green diamond flanked by trapezoid diamonds and set on a platinum band. The ring is worth an estimated $5.6 million thanks to the rarity of natural green diamonds, which also happens to be J.Lo’s lucky color.’
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on Tuesday.
The superstar was engaged to Hollywood actor Ben, 52, in the early 2000s before they split and although the pair reconciled in 2021, they have now split again after two years of marriage.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the Jenny From the Block singer filed legal documents in Los Angeles County Superior Court without an attorney.
The separation date is listed as April 26, 2024, but the day J. Lo filed for divorce is actually the two-year anniversary of their second ceremony in Georgia, which followed their initial wedding in Las Vegas just two months earlier.
According to TMZ, the ‘Waiting For Tonight’ singer ‘doesn’t say in her documents if there is a prenup,’ though sources have told the outlet that, for starters, ‘there is no prenup.’

She was also engaged to Alex Rodriguez. Here she is seen with Alex, left, and Marc, right, in 2005.
Rodriguez’s 2019 proposal featured a massive 15-carat emerald-cut diamond set in a platinum band. The bold and stunning ring is valued at around $2 million.
The couple have been rumoured to have called it quits for some time now, but Jennifer – who has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony and is stepmother to Ben and Jennifer Garner’s children Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12 – has not addressed anything to do with their rumoured split, and just months ago insisted there was “real, true love” between the pair.
She told Metro newspaper: ‘I wrote This Is Me… Then when Ben and I fell in love about 20 years ago.
‘Fate would have it that we would go back to our old lives. And on the 20th anniversary of This Is Me… Then, I announced that I would be making This Is Me… Now. I was inspired by the surreal miracle that had happened.
“Her coming back into my life and the two of us reuniting in a way we never expected was what inspired me to get into the studio. The album just came out of me.”
“It was something organic and beautiful, but it was definitely inspired by having this amazing second chance at real, true love.”
