Brittany Higgins will not testify in Linda Reynolds' defamation case against her

Brittany Higgins will not give evidence in Linda Reynolds’ libel case against her, a court has heard.

The Liberal senator is suing Ms Higgins, his former employee, over social media posts alleging she was not supported following her rape in Parliament House in March 2019.

Ms Reynolds strongly denies the allegations and says the posts damaged her reputation.

Ms Higgins had been due to fly to Perth from her home in France to give evidence in the Western Australian Supreme Court next week, but on Monday her lawyer Rachael Young SC told the court her testimony was not necessary to win the case.

She submitted medical documents containing confidential details about Ms Higgins’ health.

The senator’s lawyer, Martin Bennett, said he would review the documents carefully.

On Tuesday it was confirmed that he would not take the stand as a witness.
