Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she would be “happy” to be a waitress, calling Donald Trump a “cheap union-buster” who would sell out the country for “a dollar.”
“Republicans have attacked me by saying I should go back to waitressing,” the New York Democrat said during her speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
Let me tell you, I’m happy any day of the week because there’s nothing wrong with working for a living.
“Donald Trump would sell this country for a dollar if it meant lining his pockets and greasing the palms of his friends on Wall Street,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.
The crowd chanted “AOC” throughout her speech.

‘I, for one, am tired of hearing how a small-time unionist considers himself more patriotic than the woman who fights every day to help workers.’
The speech was decidedly approved by the establishment in a political arc that has seen the congresswoman go from a progressive who burns everything down to a Democrat who embraces the platform of the party and its leaders.
At this convention, Ocasio-Cortez was granted a prime-time speaking slot on the first night. Last time, in 2020, she had just 90 seconds to give a virtual speech to symbolically endorse Sen. Bernie Sanders for the nomination.
Democrats met to formally nominate Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to lead their ticket.
‘For the next 78 days, we will have to give every drop, every minute, every moment to make history on November 5th.
“But we can’t send Kamala and Tim to the White House alone. We must also elect strong Democratic majorities in the House and Senate so we can deliver on an ambitious agenda for the people. Because if you’re a working parent trying to pay rent and child care, Kamala is for you. If you’re a senior who had to go back to work because your pension wasn’t enough to cover your expenses, Kamala is for you. If you’re an immigrant family just starting your American story, Kamala is for you.”

As an antidote to “Make America Great Again,” Democrats have begun to say, “We will not go back.”
“When we knock on our neighbor’s door, organize our communities, and elect Kamala Harris as president on November 5th, we will send a strong message that the people of this nation will not back down,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
