‘I knew about the sprain, because it hurt me first. Unfortunately, I kept going to physical therapy because I didn’t realize how badly I was injured and it created a lot of arthritis in my hip.
‘So too with the other one, compensating for the bad one, I ended up having to do both.
‘And it’s not a matter of saying, “Oh, how am I going to deal with it?” I’m from Texas! – just deal with it.
‘There are no options. And by then she was already suffering a lot. I am very grateful that the technology exists now.
‘I went in at 8 in the morning, they did it at 11. I got up and they started me walking at four. I came home at 7. Just accept it.
‘And then I started physiotherapy and now I walk a lot and that is a very good therapy.

“The older you get, the more you realize how easy it is for one bad thing, one fall, to ruin your life.”
The glamorous star says she loves resuming her normal active lifestyle and wearing high heels again.
Fairchild also overcame another health problem when her home accumulated black mold inside its walls, causing illness and weight gain.
She said: ‘I had mold in my house which made me very sick and that’s why I’m taking herbal teas and vitamin C. But I got very sick and I blew up like a balloon.
‘I kept going to the doctor trying to figure out why I’m gaining weight when I don’t eat much.
‘I kept going to hormone doctors thinking it was menopause or something. It’s been a long road, but now I’m doing different therapies like that.
‘So you keep finding new things, you keep researching things.

‘I’m a science nerd, so I keep researching things and looking for ways to stay healthy. The older you get, the more you realize how easy it is for something bad to ruin your life. A big part of it is trying to stay informed about what not to do and stay healthy.’
She believes staying away from temptation served her well during her younger years in show business.
She said: “You see a lot of bad aging in Hollywood and I’ve always tried to live very clean.” So that helps. I didn’t drink, smoke or do drugs. When you’re younger you just do it because you think it’s a good idea. But when you’re older you look at other people and say, “I’m glad I didn’t do that.” Many of those hard parties age you a lot.
‘I’m so bored. It’s also about good nutrition.
I grew up in Texas, so if I kept eating the way I did with everything fried in fat, it would be a completely different story. Part of this is simply educating yourself about nutrition and different therapies.’
