Urgent search launched for prisoner who escaped from jail: ‘Do not approach’

Police are seeking the public's help in finding Tyrone Emanual Massey, 24, who escaped from the Townsville Correctional Centre on Saturday.

A search is underway for a prisoner who escaped from a North Queensland correctional facility.

Tyrone Emanual Massey, 24, who is serving five years for armed robbery, escaped from the Townsville Correctional Centre on Saturday.

Police are warning the public not to approach Massey, who is described as Aboriginal, about 165cm tall, with a slim build, short brown hair and brown eyes.

Massey has several distinctive facial tattoos, including “Menace” below his right eye and “Loyalty” above his left eye.

He also has tattoos on his left leg and both arms.

Police believe Massey may be in the Townsville area and should not be approached.

“If you see this man or know his whereabouts, please contact triple zero (000) immediately,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
