The Love Island cast will reportedly join the rest of the nation tuning in to watch England’s Euro 2024 final – despite being banned from watching the general election results.
While stars are usually cut off from the outside world and all its news during their time in the villa, sources have claimed that the stars will be able to watch the match as Aftersun airs later in the evening.
England will face Spain in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday, with the broadcast set to be the most-watched television event of the year.
This comes despite the fact that the bombshells were reportedly told not to share the results of the recent general election, despite the cast being advised to vote by proxy before travelling to Mallorca to take part in the show.
A source said SunITV bosses don’t want the villa to go to waste, so the big decision has been made to show it on a big screen. You’ll be able to watch it as AfterSun airs live on Sunday.

‘The rule has always been that NO outside information enters the village – the bombs are even forbidden from saying who won the general election – but this is a very special exception.’
This is not the first time programme bosses have broken the rules for a one-off event, as the 2021 series saw the Islanders tune in to England’s heartbreaking defeat to Italy in the Euro 2020 final.
Ahead of Love Island’s launch last month, executive producer Mike Spencer confirmed that this year’s contestants would still have the chance to vote, even if they were required to be in the villa when the entry period closed.
He said: “We want to make sure that they vote, because, of course, we want everyone to vote.”
The decision to keep the results of this year’s election secret may come as a surprise, after showrunner Mike Spencer insisted the series strives to educate viewers on serious issues surrounding dating and sex.
The show has already sparked awkward viral moments by focusing on global issues, such as when Hayley Hughes asked in season four in 2018 whether Brexit was related to “trees”.
Reality shows have previously tweaked the rules around major world events to ensure stars receive the most important updates – for example, in 2017, Big Brother told fellow housemates the results of that year’s general election.
Presenter Emma Willis shared the results with the housemates live on air, confirming that no party had received an outright majority, resulting in a hung Parliament, and confirmed that “Theresa May was still Prime Minister”.

The housemates looked disappointed and confused by the result, and sat in silence before Rebecca said: “I don’t understand politics.”
In 2009, Big Brother announced the death of singer Michael Jackson to the rest of the house, and many of his fellow contestants shared their devastation.
Love Island had previously pushed back the Sunday show until 10pm to avoid a clash with Sunday’s final, but has since changed its plan and will now clash with the 9pm match.
ITV has now backtracked on its decision and, in another shock change, Love Island will now go head-to-head in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday night.
A source confirmed that Aftersun will remain in its 10pm slot, after the main show as usual.
This comes after Wednesday night’s Love Island was delayed by an hour for England’s Euro semi-final match against Denmark.
The Three Lions defeated the Netherlands in a stunning victory to reach the Euro 2024 final.
Ollie Watkins’ 90th-minute winner allowed Gareth Southgate’s men to book their place in Sunday’s clash with Spain in Berlin, sparking wild celebrations across the country where almost 30 million people were watching the game at home.
Around 21.6 million viewers across television and streaming watched ITV’s coverage of the match.
