Australian women, rejoice! You can now ditch those ankle-crushing stilettos for a while.
Sneakers remain the star shoe style at this year’s Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks.
And Australian stylist to the stars Jess Pecoraro says we won’t see the trend going away anytime soon.
Pecoraro, who counts Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, Jesinta Campbell and Delta Goodrem among her A-list clients, says performance trainers are particularly in vogue, with Asics one of the most popular brands on the market.
“Asics are both a lifestyle and performance option, and you can wear both. And I don’t wear them for running, I wear them with suits,” he told Daily Mail Australia.
“I think the best thing about Asics is that it’s kind of a combination. You can wear them to work out, but you can also put on a nice outfit and they look great.
‘They are the trendy sneaker at the moment.’
Pecoraro, who recently returned from Paris, said the thicker the sneakers, the better the choice of footwear for the coming months.

‘Those styles are more voluminous and chunky. They’re not at all fitted. You can wear those “dad sneakers” with a smart suit. And when it comes to activewear, they look great with leggings.’
Pecoraro says that while she will always be a fan of high heels, she rarely wears them and personally feels more secure in a pair of sneakers.
She also believes that sneakers are especially accepted by Australians because fashion in Australia is more “relaxed”.
“I’ll always be a fan of heels, but I hardly ever wear them. It’s all that loud walking. When I put on trainers I feel comfortable, I’m myself, I’m confident, I can do anything. And Australia is a very relaxed country, so it works,” she says.
And upcoming summer fashion trends are perfect for pairing, as, as Pecoraro says, we’ll be seeing lots of “cute, nautical and sporty themes.”
She says more and more women are ditching heels and opting for comfortable sneakers.
The miniskirt trend is also back, albeit a little shorter.
