Welcome to the US politics live blog, where a surprising new poll for President Joe Biden shows him trailing Trump in almost every battleground state.

And a new Democratic front-runner has emerged to replace Biden: Michelle Obama, the former first lady of the United States, currently holds a massive 50-39 lead over former President Trump in the polls.

The Democratic revolt in the House of Representatives is beginning, as three sitting House members shocked the party by telling Biden to retire or claiming he already lost the election to Donald Trump. And Biden is set to meet with Democratic governors later today.

A new CBS poll released Wednesday shows former President Donald Trump holding a three-point lead over President Biden in every battleground state nationwide, 48% to 51%.

He also has a two-point lead over the president in a national head-to-head matchup.

In another warning sign for Biden, the poll also showed a huge enthusiasm gap between the two candidates.

Democrats are not as likely to vote “definitely” in November compared to Republicans.

White House a ‘mess’ as staff freak out after Biden debate disaster

There is growing uproar inside the White House over President Joe Biden’s surprisingly weak debate performance.

It’s now turning into a full-blown partisan revolt, with two incumbent Democrats opposing Biden and saying they want another candidate at the top of the ticket, while a third says he can’t win.

The president will try to reassure Democratic governors at the White House on Wednesday, when a full-staff meeting is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET.

Attendees told Axios: “Everyone is freaking out.”

REVEALED: The only Democrat who could beat Trump

While other former Democrats and liberal pundits have speculated about Biden’s ability to hold on to the presidency through 2028, should he win, two elected members of the party’s congressional delegation on Tuesday called on him to drop out of the race.

Now, pollster Ipsos has put several elected and unelected Democrats head-to-head with Biden, and only one would beat him, according to its survey.
